Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Narrator is the first character to die.

Answer: False

Did you forget about the wolf? A wolf's mother would be very upset with you.
2. The Mysterious Man is usually a double casted role. What other character did the Mysterious Man play in the original London cast?

Answer: Cinderella's Father

On Broadway it was the Mysterious Man/Narrator, which made for some extremely fast costume changes.
3. What is a Bier?

Answer: A stand for a coffin

"While you cry on their biers..."
4. How is "Our Little World"?

Answer: Perfect

Not done in the original Broadway production, but a lovely song that gives Rapunzel a little more to do.
5. How many of the characters that die (permanantly) are NOT killed by the Giant?

Answer: 3

The Wolf, Jack's Mother and the Giant herself...note that two of these are killed by the Baker.
6. What are the Narrator's final words in the first act?

Answer: To be continued

...And happy ever after!
7. The stepsisters each carry one cane at the end of act one.

Answer: False

They both carry two. Remember, they both just had parts of their feet cut off.
8. Who sings in "On the Steps of the Palace" in the Broadway revival?

Answer: All of these

In my opinion, it was a huge mistake to take that moment away from Cinderella just to drive home the fact that they all learned something.
9. True or False? Bernadette Peters was their (the original Broadway producers) first and only choice to play the Witch.

Answer: False

Actually they never planned on Bernadette Peters being interested in playing a character that is the secondary lead. The Baker's wife is the actual lead character.
10. Who voiced the Giant in the Revival?

Answer: Dame Judi Dench

Yes, the Dame herself. I kind of like using a famous, albeit recorded, voice for the giant...kind of like the famous people on the phones with Frasier.
11. The Original Broadway Cast Soundtrack is different than the music you hear in the actual production.

Answer: True

Oddly enough, there are sections of "Any Moment" and "A Very Nice Prince" that are on the recording that do not appear in the production...
12. "Near may be better than far, but..."

Answer: it still isn't there.

From "Second Midnight", a song that does not appear on the Original Broadway Recording.
13. How many members of the Baker's family die during the course of the show? (even if just for a little while?)

Answer: 3

His Wife, his Father, and he had a Sister...but did not know that her name was...Rapunzel.
14. Who is the first to notice that talking to birds is a little odd?

Answer: Little Red Ridinghood

And with one of the best lines in the entire show...Little Red asks..."You can talk to birds?"
15. What do Snow White and Sleeping Beauty say in the Broadway Revival Recording?

Answer: Nothing

That's right, nothing at all. They were (to the best of my knowledge) cut from the revival since they show up for one second, they didn't even get bows during the original run.
