Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who is the "orphan" who wants a room at the Priscilla Hotel? Millie and Mr. Graydon come up with her after brainstorming with Jimmy.

Answer: Miss Flannery

In the movie version, Jimmy is the decoy. In the normal stage version it is Muzzy. However, in "TMM Jr.", it is Miss Flannery. In "Th'neither of them would pass for the new girl in town.'
2. How do you get to Macy's, based on Millie's description in the opening number?

Answer: It's one block north

According to the song, 'I studied all the pictures in magazines and books. I memorized the subway map, too. It's one block north to Macy's and two to Brothers Brooks. Manhattan, I prepared for you.'
3. According to the opening number, what is stylish now (in the '20s)?

Answer: To raise your skirts and bob your hair

Kissing like they do in the movies is described as "delectable." Painting lips and pencil lining your brow "now is quite respectable." And cars are only GETTING snazzier and bands are only GETTING jazzier.
4. In "The Speed Test," when Miss Flannery and the stenogs (short for stenographers) take over, what phrase is repeated over and over?

Answer: "So I hope you solve this matter"

The other three phrases are only said twice, once when Mr. Graydon is dictating the letter to Millie and once when he, Miss Flannery, and the stenogs are reading it over.

The only phrase repeated over and over again is "So I hope you solve this matter".
5. What mistake does Millie make at the end of "The Speed Test"?

Answer: She says "just call me Millie Graydon" instead of Millie Dillmount

After being told she has "made the team", Millie says, "Tell me where my desk is, when we eat lunch, how much I'll be paid and nice to meet you, I know we'll be friends, just call me Millie Graydon." She makes no mistake about which meal she needs to know when to eat, she just gets overexcited (shown by the increasingly fast pace of this little speech) and jumps the gun on her grand, modern plan to marry her boss. The office workers reply with "Millie Graydon?" to which she says "I mean Dillmount."
6. After Millie and Jimmy get out of jail, Jimmy ends up angrily quizzing her about her so-called relationship with Trevor Graydon the Third. Millie hasn't sat on his lap, she hasn't kissed him, but he does have a pet name for her, which Jimmy doesn't think much of. What is it?

Answer: John

Jimmy isn't really one to talk about pet names, since his for Millie was previously "Kansas." However, he tells her it "isn't very romantic." She replies, "But it's modern. He calls me John because I'm so efficient: 'Johnny-on-the-spot.'"
7. What name does Millie call Jimmy that starts a chain of name-calling between them?

Answer: Skirt chaser

Womanizer is the second name Millie calls Jimmy, and Casanova is the third. Millie does call Jimmy a butterfly boy, but the chain doesn't start until "skirt chaser."
8. What does Miss Flannery tell Millie to do after Millie sees Jimmy and Miss Dorothy talk and kiss at the Priscilla Hotel?

Answer: Forget the boys and get herself a canary

Miss Flannery gets mad at Millie for using the phone for a "personal matter" on "company time" and docks her a dollar. Millie protests, saying she didn't want to talk to him. Miss Flannery replies, "Good. Forget the boys, Dillmount. Get yourself a canary!" This then leads into "Forget About the Boy," in which Flannery and the stenogs encourage Millie to get rid of Jimmy.
9. What is the name of the company where Millie works?

Answer: The Sincere Trust Insurance Company

Macy's and Brooks Brothers are the two stores Millie mentions knowing how to get to in the opening. Van Hossmere Worldwide Enterprises is the family business that Jimmy and Miss Dorothy inherit and, as Mr. Graydon says, it owns the Sincere Trust Insurance Company, which is Millie's direct employer.
10. Who wrote the music for "Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr."? He/she also adapted "Shrek" for stage.

Answer: Jeannine Tesori

Richard Morris and Dick Scanlan wrote the book. Jeannine Morris is not her name!
