Aya wakes up and finds herself in the tree she and Aki were never allowed to climb. Toya finds her and climbs up after her, and Aya gets angry at her family, wondering why they would be wanting to kill her. She begins to rattle off a list of things she's done, such as dying her hair, lying to her parents about what she's doing, skipping class, and getting chased by cops.

In an attempt to stop her, Toya kisses her and Aya screams, revealing their location to the men with big guns literally hunting for her.

Although we do not know it at the time, Aki, Aya's twin brother, is actually the man who stole Ceres' robes in their former lives. From within Aya, Ceres recognizes Aki's wounds as the ones she lashed onto Mikagi all those years ago and knows that he is the one who knows where her robes are.

When the tree burst up in flames when Urakawa tripped, Dr. Mikami - or Toya - came to Aya and Urakawa's rescue and pushed a burning branch out of their way. However, the three girls that found Mr. Hayama's (signed by "Aya") note got burned. "...you two were right by that tree and didn't get so much as singed... I wouldn't have been by the tree if you hadn't tripped... feeling faint again Urakawa? But that's pretty much your natural state, isn't it? ...I just don't get why Dr. Mikami protected you guys." Mr. Hayama decided that using these girls would be a good way to reveal their relationship and finally release Urakawa's powers against Aya.

As Aki's memories are being probed to try and discover where he hid the robes in his previous life, strange feelings are returning to him. He loved Ceres and before he realized what he was doing, he kisses her picture and Kagami walks in on him.

Their grandfather is growing ill, and he tells Aki to "appreciate your importance to the Mikage family, as my TRUE successor," and takes him to a room where he explains that the forefather of the Mikage was slashed to death by the Tennyo, just like the wounds that appeared on Aki when he saw the mummified hand. Once Aki sees what is left of the true Ceres' body, he caves in, and the forefather emerges in Aki.

Everyone had an idea that Shuro was a Tennyo because of his family lineage. The possibility of Kei being the one who may reject the vector isn't even mentioned until the book is almost over, and an 'energy rising in him' is mentioned. In the end, Kei ends up dying and Shuro and Kei confess their love to each other, but by then it's already too late. It's a very sad scene.

Maya's boyfriend gave her a dog, but then moved away. She tried to keep the long-distance relationship going, but he lost interest and dumped her. She named the dog after him.

Aya won't eat and just lays around sleeping all day and night. Toya comes back to the Aogiris, but Aya is sleeping. He leaves his dagger outside her door, and when he leaves, Aya senses him leaving and jumps up. Holding the dagger she cries, and slowly begins to recover with another new aspiration to begin searching for the robes again.

There are rumors spreading about a monster living under a construction site on the school grounds. Aya learns that the monster is a woman that tried on the celestial robes, and instead of turning her into a maiden, it fused with her and made her a monster. Ceres purifies the monster and bestows upon her "peace and transcendent bliss." The only thing that is left of the monster is her hand and Wei is told to bring it back to Kagami as a gift.

With the Mikage laying low for a bit, Aya and Toya both decide to move in together and try to live a normal life for a little bit. Aya gets two jobs, one at the bookstore and one at the local takeout. Toya begins working for Dr. Kurozuka to pay for three things: his motorcycle he destroyed, his medical bills, and the room he and Aya are renting. Life is going on normally for them while the Mikage are keeping out of their lives for a bit. That is until Aki comes back and kidnaps Chidori and Shota...

Near the beginning of the book, Ceres comes into Aya's head and informs her that she has six months to find the robes. Aya wonders why Ceres suddenly put a time limit on it. When she's back visiting the Aogiris, she gets sick, and Suzumi says that she might be pregnant.

This is after Toya and Yuhi leave to mount the assault on the Mikage's lab to get Chidori and Shota back. Toya is killed and doesn't learn about the baby until after he comes back with the Mana in the last book.

When Mikagi first met Ceres, he had found the robes and returned them to her. He was a very kind person and gave Ceres a place to stay. They fell in love with each other... including Ceres. They had children, but it was not against her will. One day Mikagi was attacked and Ceres gave him a bit of her power so he could protect himself.

This was her mistake. Mikagi attacked other tribes to flaunt his power, and he killed just to show how strong he was and to get stronger. Mikagi became scared that if Ceres left him, he would lose his power, so that was when he stole Ceres' Mana.

Toya returns from the dead and has wings, strangely. When he lands, the wings come into his hands and he holds the Mana. Long ago, Mikagi had thrown the Mana into the ocean so Ceres wouldn't find it. The Mana took in life around it in the ocean, and began to create a life.

It grew in the water, and then eventually landed on land, which is from where Toya told his story about how he came to be. He tells Aya that he was created as a vehicle for the Mana to return to Ceres.

He tells Yuhi to take care of Aya once he's gone. He tells Yuhi: "It might be a year or two... maybe longer... but the time will come... and when it does... please take care of her." It's sad, but it's the truth. Toya has completed what he was created to do, and that was to return the Mana to Ceres.

The Mana was the essence of Toya's life, and now that it's gone, his life will begin to wither away. It's a sad, but happy ending.
