Characters From the "Vlad Taltos" Series Quiz

Answer: Loiosh

Vlad tells the story of how he acquired Loiosh in the book "Jhereg". He used a special witchcraft ceremony to entice a mother into giving him an egg. He kept the egg with him until it hatched and he had a baby jhereg as his life partner.

Answer: Aliera

Aliera is Morrolan's cousin and, at the time, the Dragon Heir to the throne. The book "Taltos" describes the events surrounding freeing Aliera in the Paths of the Dead. We also know that Adron, her father, destroyed the old city of Dragaera and created a sea of chaos.

Her mother is Verra, the Demon-Goddess. Lastly, Aliera is short and often floats a few inches off the ground so that she looks taller.

Answer: Cawti

Cawti and her partner Norathar are hired to assassinate Vlad in the book "Yendi". Eventually, Cawti and Vlad marry, but they grow apart because of the events in the book "Teckla". We discover at the end of "Orca" that Cawti and Vlad have a son, Vlad Norathar, that Vlad Taltos knows nothing about.

Answer: Noish-pa

Noish-pa taught Vlad Eastern style fencing and Witchcraft while his father made sure he learned sorcery and Dragaeran fencing. Noish-pa lived in South Andrilankha- essentially the ghetto- all the years Vlad was growing up. When Vlad had to flee from the Jhereg, he left his grandfather in charge of the lands he'd been granted by the Empress.

Answer: Savn

Savn was a young Teckla that Vlad used so he could kill an Athyra wizard, Loraan. Savn accidentally got too involved and ended up stabbing Loraan, his Lord, with a Morganti blade. The experience left him trapped in his mind. Vlad feels responsible, so he takes Savn to a hedge witch to find a cure.

Answer: Kragar

Kragar used to be a Dragonlord, but was kicked out of the house. He was Vlad's first partner when they'd go out to collect money from people who owed. Kragar became Vlad's right hand man when Vlad ran his own territory. When Vlad had to leave to run from the Jhereg, he left his territory to Kragar.

Answer: Sethra Lavode

Sethra Lavode is a figure clouded in mystery. She carries one of the Great Weapons, Ice Flame. We discover that she is the oldest Dragaeran around, she is as old as the empire, and not because of reincarnation.

Answer: Kiera

Kiera is the most legendary thief in the Empire. There is nothing she can't steal. She befriends young Vlad for reasons he never understands. She is also the one who helps him get his place in the Organization of the Jhereg. We find out in "Orca" that Kiera is actually Sethra Lavode in disguise!

Answer: Teldra

Teldra is so accommodating that, the first time Vlad was greeted by her, he almost gave her his cloak full of weapons. In "Issola", we find out Teldra is also Morrolan's high priestess to the Gods. At the end of the book, Teldra is stabbed by a Morganti blade. Vlad uses his power and Spellbreaker to bind her soul to the blade, thus creating Godslayer, the greatest of the Great Weapons.

Answer: Morrolan

Vlad works as a security consultant for Morrolan. They sealed their friendship when they journeyed to the Paths of the Dead together in the book "Taltos". Morrolan has a strict policy that no guest is ever killed (to the point they can't be revivified) in his home. Vlad fights in Morrolan's army in the book "Dragon".
