Dan Brown books Trivia Quiz

Dan Brown has created three of the most amazing books I have ever read. He did write four but I didn't really like "Deception Point". WARNING: THIS QUIZ CONTAINS SPOILERS from all three books. Take this quiz at your own risk.

Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who is Brown's main character in the two books, "Angels and Demons" and "The Da Vinci Code"?

Answer: Robert Langdon

Robert Langdon is the main character in both "Angels and Demons" and "The Da Vinci Code". In "Angels and Demons" he is busy trying to find the antimatter that might destroy all of the Vatican with the help of Vittoria Vetra. Vittoria Vetra's father Leonardo Vetra was killed in the beginning of the book "Angels and Demons". Sophie Neveu was Langdon's partner in "The Da Vinci Code" while they were trying to find the Holy Grail. Susan Fletcher is the main character in "Digital Fortress" where an algorithm is about to let out top secret information to the United States' enemies. Susan has to and does find the code that will stop the virus from breaking down the machine that breaks all sorts of codes.
2. In "Digital Fortress", what is the name of the machine that is almost brought down?

Answer: TRANSLTR

The name of the machine in "Digital Fortress" is called TRANSLTR. Its job is breaking algorithms, which is just a fancy name for a formula or procedure to break a code or puzzle.
3. In "Angels and Demons" who is the main "bad guy"?

Answer: Carlo Ventresca

Carlo Ventresca is the "bad guy" of this book. He believed that his father, the Pope, had broken his oath of celebesy and had a child. While it is true that he had had a child with a nun, he had not done it through sexual intercourse, but he had used science and the nun, his love, used artificial insemination.

When Carlo found out about this he felt hurt and betrayed and he killed the Pope. Later on he found out that he was the Pope's son and killed himself over it. The hassasin and Maximillian Kohler are also in this book.

The hassasin is bad but Kohler is not. Jacques Sauniere is not a bad guy and is from the book "The Da Vinci Code", he is Sophie Neveu's grandfather.
4. In "Angels and Demons" Vittoria Vetra is Robert Langdon's love interest.

Answer: True

It is true that Vittoria Vetra was Robert Langdon's love interest. They worked together throughout this entire book trying to find a way to save the Vatican. Vittoria and her father Leonardo were the ones who created the deadly antimatter that threatened the Vatican and all the people who lived there.
5. What was the name of the group that Vittoria Vetra and Robert Langdon were trying to stop in "Angels and Demons"?

Answer: Illuminati

The Illuminati is group dedicated to religion mainly Christianity. The Opus Dei is also a religious group but is not a group ever mentioned in "Angels and Demons". The Priory of the Sion is a group dedicated to science and is not mentioned in this book but is in "The Da Vinci Code".

The National Security Agency, or the NSA, is a United States security agency dedicated to breaking algorithms, codes, and keeping the national security tight.
6. In the book "The Da Vinci Code" the "bad guys" are Sir Leigh Teabing and Bezu Fache.

Answer: False

Yes and no. Sir Leigh Teabing is the "bad guy" but he pretended he was helping Langdon, but he was only trying to further along his quest for the Holy Grail. Bezu Fache is one of the "good guys" but he thinks that Jacques Sauniere was murdered by Langdon so he works against Langdon and tries to arrest him and chases after him throughout the book. I know your head is probably spinning right now. Mine was too.
7. Who is Susan Fletcher's fiance in "Digital Fortress"?

Answer: David Becker

David Becker is her fiance. All the other people were people she worked with. Strathmore was the one who started the bug in TRANSLTR, Ensei Tankado is the one who sent the email that contained the bug that Strathmore unleashed on TRANSLTR but they were not working together, and finally Leland Fontaine is the man who stepped in to fix the problem.

He was there and giving orders to get the code that would stop the parasite from eating through their fire walls and other seceurity and giving out their secret information.
8. In "The Da Vinci Code", where does the entire story begin?

Answer: Paris/ the Louvre

This story takes place in Paris and starts off in the Louvre museum of Paris, one the most beautiful and amazing houses of art. One of the many paintings this building houses is the "Mona Lisa" by Leonardo Da Vinci.
9. In "Angels and Demons" how does Carlo Ventresca die at the end?

Answer: He sets himself on fire and disappears off the top of the building in St. Peter's Square

At the end of this book Carlo Ventresca, believing he had heard God telling him that he should die for their religion, set himself on fire and disappeared from on top the roof of a building in St. Peter's Square.
10. What is the one thing that the three Dan Brown books - "Angels and Demons", "The Da Vinci Code", and "Digital Fortress" - have in common?

Answer: Someone always dies in the prologue

Actually the most interesting thing I noticed in all three of these books is the in every single prologue someone has always died. This was because they were really important or they knew something really important and without their deaths the entire novel would be pointless.

In "Angels and Demons" Leonardo Vetra died because of his antimatter, in "The Da Vinci Code" Jacques Sauniere died because he held the secret of the "Mona Lisa" and the secret of the Holy Grail. Finally, in "Digital Fortress" Ensei Tankado died because someone didn't want the NSA to find the code to turn off the parasite the was in TRANSLTR and he was the only one who knew the code.
