Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Rhys and Evaine had four children, one of which was brutally murdered at Trurill when only 10 years old. Which of their children was killed by anti-Deryni marauders?

Answer: Aidan Camber

Camlin Maclean actually survived the massacre and was rescued from being crucified, however he was in very bad shape. This posed a problem as there were no healers with Evaine's party when they arrived at Trurill. Luckily the healing blood ran true in Tieg, who although only a little over three years old directed the healing energy through Evaine to save Camlin's life.
2. Whom did Davin replace in the royal guard when he was sent in as a spy?

Answer: Eidiard of Clure

The Camberian Council decided they needed someone to keep an eye on Tavis. Getting a "spy", especially a Deryni one, into the court would prove to be very difficult. They finally decided to allow Davin MacRorie to attempt the feat by blocking his powers and setting a preconditioned command to join the council at a later date to have the blocks removed.

This espionage eventually proved disastrous for the Deryni cause.
3. There were five founding members of The Camberian Council, one of which was Alister Cullen. Who were the other four?

Answer: Joram, Evaine, Rhys and Jebediah

A year after it was founded, Jaffray, Gregory and Dom Turstane were invited to join. In the beginning the council's main function was to control outlaw Deryni, but as time progressed this task became impossible and within a year and a half of Cinhil's death four of the five founders were dead as well.
4. A critical discovery was the ability to block Deryni powers. Rhys actually discovered this ability while healing Gregory of Ebor. Which other powerful healer also had this rare power?

Answer: Tavis O'Neil

This ability was very rare even among talented healers; most simply could not do it. This ability eventually caused many Deryni families to over time forget (and/or hide) their Deryni heritage. This "removal" of Deryni powers also was to play a major role in the disappearance of the Deryni people, it was hoped that by showing the powers could be removed the people could at least survive.
5. Cinhil and Megan eventually had four children. The oldest (to survive childhood) was Alroy. What was Alroy's full name?

Answer: Alroy Bearand Brion Haldane

Alroy's twin was named Javan Jashan Urien Haldane; his younger brother was Rhys Michael Alister Haldane. There was also a brother who did not survive past three months named Alister and of course, Aidan Alroy Camber who was murdered at the age of one month, one year before the twins' birth.
6. After Jaffray was killed the synod met to vote on the next Primate of All Gywnedd. Who did not receive votes in the votes cast during the third week of Advent?

Answer: Alister Cullen

Hubert received five votes, Dermot and Oriss five each as well. Alister was approached as a compromise candidate when Nillian, Kai, Dermot and Oriss decided to put their votes and Oriss and Dermot's supporters votes together in order to ensure Hubert wasn't elected.
7. On Christmas Eve the regents moved against all of the major Deryni religious houses and all of the monks living there. Which house was not destroyed that night?

Answer: Dhassa

In one night the regents basically destroyed hundreds of years of teachings and manuscripts as well as many, many defenseless and helpless monks, many of whom were not even Deryni. There is a very poignant scene in which Dom Emrys places a warning spell on the portal at Saint Neot's telling of the massacre, which will be found many years in the future by someone who becomes very pivotal in Gwynedd history.
8. The Statutes of Ramos had many wide spread ramifications. Which of these were not part of the Statutes?

Answer: condemnation of all Deryni magic, including healing

Although Hubert and the council came very close to declaring all Deryni powers anathema, they did agree, for now, to allow healers to continue to work, albeit under very guarded conditions.
9. Who were the original five members that Cinhil chose as regents for Alroy?

Answer: Alister, Hubert, Murdoch, Tammaron and Rhun

Alister was originally a regent, however he was quickly replaced when the other four regents voted him off. They replaced him with Sighere but due to his health they nominated his son Ewan to take the office. Jaffray was never a member of the regents, although he was on the King's Council.
10. The Eye of Rom was pivotal in the procedure in which the Haldane kings' power was awoken. Where, according to legend, did the Eye come from?

Answer: a stone which fell from heaven the night Christ was born

Legend had it that the Magi brought it to the savior because they knew it was a stone for kings.
