Eragon thought Brom was just the local storyteller but, as we later find out, Brom is really an ex Dragon Rider.

2. What were the names of the two horses that Brom bought?

Brom rode Snowfire, and Cadoc was named by Eragon.

The sword previously belonged to Morzan. Brom got the sword when he killed Morzan.
