quiz
Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. '"Daddy, I'm tired" the little girl in the red pants and green blouse said fretfully.'

Answer: Firestarter

Pretty easy. Charlie says this to her father as they keep on the run from The Shop.
2. 'Once upon a time, not so long ago, a monster came to the small town of Castle Rock, Maine.'

Answer: Cujo

Castle Rock was the setting for a number of King's stories.
3. 'This is the story of a lover's triangle, I suppose you'd say _______.'

Answer: Christine

The rest of the line names Arnie, Leigh and Christine which would make the question a little too easy.
4. 'Almost everyone thought the man and the boy were father and son.'

Answer: 'Salem's Lot

The book starts with Ben and the boy in Mexico.
5. 'Jack Torrence thought: Officious, little prick.'

Answer: The shining

Naming the main character probably gives this one away so I didn't give any more clues.
6. 'What did you ask, Andy Bissette?'

Answer: Dolores Claiborne

The story starts with Dolores being read her rights.
7. 'Jessie could hear the back door banging lightly, randomly in the October breeze blowing around the house.'

Answer: Gerald's Game

Probably his worst book in my opinion.
8. 'Oh! Oh, Jesus! Gross!'

Answer: Desperation

This and 'The Regulators' were his best books in years.
9. 'She sits in a corner trying to draw air out of a room which seemed to have plenty just a few minutes ago and now seems to have none.'

Answer: Rose Madder

This is where Rosie has her miscarriage in the prologue. Probably a tie with "Gerald's Game" for the worst novel.
10. 'The terror, which would not end for another twenty-eight years - if it ever did-'

Answer: It

An excellent novel. Shame about the movie....
11. 'Sally.'

Answer: The Stand

Charlie was attempting to wake Sally up as they fled the Project Blue facility.
12. 'These sounds: even in the haze.'

Answer: Misery

The actual first words are 'umber whunnn yerrrnnn umber whunnnn fayunnnn' but I thought I should put the first line that made sense.
13. 'Right here and now, as an old friend used to say, we are in the fluid present, where clear-sightedness never guarantees perfect vision.'

Answer: The Black House

A novel co-written with Peter Straub (as with "The Talisman") which is very good.
14. 'In a small town, the opening of a new store is a big thing.'

Answer: Needful Things

An interesting book on human behaviour.
15. 'For want of a nail the kingdom was lost - that's how the catechism goes when you boil it down.'

Answer: The Tommyknockers

This was a decent book, but the movie was not so good.
