She had just finished work and was walking home when she noticed that the night was quiet. This is in the first chapter of the book.

"I'm due to go out again tomorrow night. I'll see what I can find if he's not back by then.
"Thanks, I owe you one."
"Get me into a club during the moon fever, and we'll call it quits."
I grinned. "Done deal. See you later."

This quote was in a phone call to Kelly about Kelly checking on Rhoan. The promise was made but unfortunately never kept because of what happened later.

Silver. The bullet was silver. That's why it hurt so much
"take...out." Hurry.
He swore. Amen to that, I thought weakly. My eyes refused to open, my arm was numb, and the numbness was spreading all too quickly through the rest of my body. The wolf had missed my heart, but in many respects, it didn't matter. If Quinn didn't get that bullet out of my shoulder soon, I was one dead puppy.
I floated in a sea of molten agony, drifting in and out of consciousness, my body aflame and dripping with sweat.
Yet his voice reached me, dragged me back.

This passage describes what happens when Quinn finds Riley and is taking the bullet out. Since the bullet is silver, it is causing numbness in Riley's body and that's why she is almost passing out.

I sighed and leaned back. "Then you haven't any idea where he might have gone?"
"I know he was checking out the street directory before he left."
I raised an eyebrow. "Don't suppose you know what address?"
"No. But I was sitting beside him and know the page number was sixty-nine."

Answer: She goes into their minds and has them thinking they are mating with her, but really with each other

Riley gets into the facility promising the guard something then when she is in there completely she gets into their minds and makes them look at each other and see her there instead of the other guard. Much safer for her.

Answer: Knocks Quinn out and drives off in Quinn's car to Liander

It was three blocks before we came to the car. Quinn exchanged the gun for his car keys and opened the door. "We'll head straight to the airport," he said as he bent to place Rhoan in the car. "I'll call ahead so that the plane is ready by the time we get there." ...
There were times when I was more than a little careless about my safety, but I sure as hell wasn't going to risk my brother's any more than I had to. He wasn't just my twin, he was my pack. The two of us had to look out for each other,simply because we were all the other had had since our mother's pack had thrown us out. And until I'd actually talked to Rhoan, heard his side of the story, then Quinn was still on my may-not-be-trusted list.
Which meant I was going to lose the delicious man yet again. I could only hope that if he was innocent, he'd forgive me.
As he straightening, I thrust a hand against the back of his head, forcing him forward, bashing his head against the roof of the car as hard as I could. Which was damn hard.
He never really stood a chance---and it just went to prove even a thousand year-old vampire could be taken unaware. I caught him as he fell, grunting a little at the force of his weight, then dragged him across the pavement, and over the fence of the nearby house. He fell into the shadows of several thick bushes and for all intents and purposes, was hidden from sight.
I ran back to the car, slipped into the driver's seat and drove away as fast as I dared.

The quote explains Riley knocking out Quinn because she didn't trust him. Riley didn't really want to but she does it for the safety of her brother.

"Then I have a question for you, little wolf."
Though that bad feeling was growing, I grinned faintly. "The answer is no, you can't have sex with me just yet. I'm enjoying floating in the bubbles right now."
"That wasn't the question."
Like I didn't know that? "Then what is?"
"Will you have my child?"
Surprise hit like a club but I somehow managed to say, "What?"
"I want you to carry my child."

This passage basically says it all. Talon wants Riley to have his kid. Riley doesn't want to.

Answer: Quinn is disguised as Mr. Brown and Riley disguised as a female companion

I glanced at Quinn. "But how are we going to get into Brown's office when Quinn looks nothing like Brown?" He was far, far too handsome, for a start.
"He will by the time I've finished with him," Liander says.
"You think you can do something tarty for me as well?" I couldn't risk wearing the blue wig and makeup again, just in case it set off alarms somewhere.


Disguises are useful. Liander disguises them so that they can get into the building easier than if they looked like themselves.

Answer: Gryphons that are part human

There were eight of them, and they formed a rough semicircle around us. They were all males, all naked, and all rather lacking in the manhood department. Their bodies were muscular, almost too perfect, and their skin shone with a luminosity that reminded me of the moon. But any vague resemblance to humanity ended right there. The flesh of their arms gave way at the elbow to the soft golden fur of a cat, and they had claws instead of hands. Instead of faces, they had the heads and beaks of an eagle. On their backs, fanning lightly in the wind, brown-and-gold wings that arched high above them.
"Gryphons," I said. "Sort of."

I wouldn't want to encounter these creatures. Their claws and beaks would scare me and do lots of damage as the story continues you find out just how much.

Answer: Talon and he escapes

Talon has Riley chained to a table when Quinn shows up and deals with him. Unfortunately, Talon escapes before the backup gets there.
