"Maison Ikkoku" Part #3 Trivia Quiz

Yotsuya said he was going back to his home, wherever that may be. Akemi originally planned on watching New Year's TV with Kyoko, but gets a call from a friend to go skiing and quickly agrees to go.

While Kyoko goes to check room one (where the Ichinose family lives), Yusaku thinks to himself about how much he wants to touch Kyoko before the night is over. When Kyoko walks in on him shouting "Damn it, I want to do it!", Yusaku lies and says how much he wants to ski and how jealous he is of Akemi for going skiing.

In "Part Two: I'll Be Back", Yusaku tells the reader "You may not believe it to look at me...but I used to play rugby in high school". His old high school team was hoping that the college guys who were visiting for the holiday could show them how to play rugby better.

In "Part Two: I'll Be Back", Yusaku gets a black eye during rugby practice when he falls and lands on someone's knee. Yusaku finally comes home with two black eyes, wearing sunglasses to disguise them. When Akemi takes off Yusaku's sunglasses, Kyoko begins muffled laughing at how funny his two black eyes are.

This happens often during the series. He sometimes almost runs into things, like trains, until someone pulls him back, but most often, he runs into a wall or pole. In book three, "Part Two: I'll Be Back", he gets two black eyes when he runs into a pole while biking.

In "Part Three: Stake it on the Rink!", Yusaku and Mitaka are both competing to get Kyoko to teach them how to ice skate. When Yusaku falls down and Kyoko tells him "You put your weight too far forward", someone tells him "Here, grab on" and Mrs. Ichinose helps Yusaku off the ice. Kyoko helps Mitaka off the ice, but never Yusaku.

This causes much confusion when Kyoko Baby got lost. When Yusaku calls for Kyoko Baby, Kyoko the manager thinks Yusaku is being innappropriate with her in calling her 'baby'. Yusaku had been trying to hide the kitten, as pets are not allowed at Maison Ikkoku.

Yotsuya sees the cat and says "Kyoko Baby, come to my arms..." and the kitten crawls over to him. Yusaku tell Yotsuya not to tell the manager about the kitten. Yotsuya promptly tells Akemi, telling Yusaku "I assumed that you meant that only the manager must remain unaware".

When Yusaku tells Akemi the kitten's name, she shouts "Kyoko Baby?!" at the top of her lungs, causing Kyoko the manager to rush up to Yusaku's room. In order to keep the kitten secret, Yusaku tells Akemi to tell Kyoko any lie that she might believe, and Akemi tells her that Yusaku suddenly jumped on her!

When Kyoko goes over to her parents' house for dinner in "Part Five: A Family Affair", her father bluntly tells her to quit her job at Maison Ikkoku. They mostly wanted her to quit as Maison Ikkoku is owned by Soichiro's family, and her parents don't want her to continue relations with her late husband's family.

Kyoko and her mother constantly fight, so Kyoko's mother tells the tennants of Maison Ikkoku that Kyoko is retiring from her management position. The movers then come to take away Kyoko's things. When Kyoko returns to Maison Ikkoku after talking with her parents, she tells the tennants that "It was all my mother's plot".

Kyoko's mother wants to get Mrs. Ichinose, who is rather easily manipulated, to convince Kyoko to return to her parents' house. Kyoko's mother shows Mrs. Ichinose a picture of Kyoko's father when he was ill several years ago to convince her.

Kozue takes Yusaku up to her room, in hopes of having Yusaku kiss her. In order to get out of kissing her, Yusaku claims to see a person looking into her bedroom window. Kozue assumes it was her younger brother and Yusaku is able to leave shortly afterwards.

Yusaku points out that it would be unfair for Kyoko to pair with Mitaka, as they are both very good. Other tennis players agree that Mitaka needs some kind of 'handicap', and Mrs. Ichinose becomes his partner, as she can barely play tennis and knows none of the rules.

After the match, Yusaku, Mrs. Ichinose, Kyoko and Mitaka go to a lounge to relax. Yusaku tells Mitaka that Kyoko is still in love with her late husband and that Mitaka should consider Kyoko's feelings.

Kyoko tells Mitaka that she isn't ready to pair with him for life, saying "...before I can pair with you permanently...I really have to work on my serve!". This causes Mitaka to sit down and think to himself why he didn't just say 'marraige'.

The clinical term for fear of dogs is 'cynophobia'. Mitaka thinks it will take three years to rid himself of his fear; this way he can get along with Soichiro, Kyoko's dog, in a more normal manner.

When he tells the other tennants his plans to wait until he gets a real job, they tell him how unlikely he is to get a real job that fast, and Yusaku returns to tell Kyoko to wait five more years instead. Yusaku also thinks that in three years, Kyoko might be able to let go of some of her late husband's memory as well.

When a dog suddenly rushes out of the salon and gets mud on Mitaka's white suit, the salon lady insists on cleaning his pants. Mitaka unwillingly goes in and when a very large dog lunges towards him, he grabs the nearest thing to him for support, which happens to be the salon lady.

Sometime after playing pachinko, Yusaku sees Kyoko walking home with a bag of groceries with a few cans falling out. Kyoko, still mad at men for being playboys, throws a few cans at Yusaku's head and tells him she doesn't need his help to carry groceries. Meanwhile, Mitaka wonders why Kyoko stood him up, as he does not realize that Kyoko saw him hug the salon worker.
