Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What is Ryoma Echizen's main play style?

Answer: All-rounder

As the main character of the manga, Ryoma's signature move is the "Twist Serve" which is a topspin and sidespin move, making the ball curve towards the right when served. He is first known for it before he makes it into the Seigaku regulars, and many of them wanted to challenge Ryoma.

While his dominant hand is actually his left, he is special and can use both hands to hold his racket during matches. Usually, he uses his right hand against weaker opponents or for warming up.
2. How many players are in Rikkai Daigaku?

Answer: Eight

Rikkai Daigaku (sometimes referred as "Rikka Dai") have the following players: Genichiro Sanada, Akaya Kirihara, Renji Yanagi, Seiichi Yukimura, Bunta Marui, Hiroshi Yagyu, Masaharu Niou, and Jackal Kuwahara. All of them, like others, have special playing styles and moves.
3. Who is Sakuno Ryuzaki's best friend?

Answer: Tomoka Osakada

Tomoka and Sakuno are very obsessed with Ryoma, as they even create a fan club for him. They also cheer for Ryoma and his team in almost every single match they play. Sakuno even joins the girls' tennis club because she wants to prove herself to Ryoma.
4. Who is Yamabuki's coach?

Answer: Banji

Banji's full name is "Mikiya Banda." He and Seigaku's coach, Sumire Ryuzaki, share a bit of a rivalry. Banji is mentioned a bit in the manga series.
5. Who make up the Silver Pair?

Answer: Ohtori and Shishido

Ohtori and Shishido are two players from Hyotei. Eiji and Oishi are called the "Golden Pair" and are from Seigaku. The other two players are just doubles partners throughout the manga.
6. Who are the "Three Demons of Rikkai?"

Answer: None of these

The "Three Demons of Rikkai" are really Yukimura, Sanada, and Renji. Yukimura is the captain of Rikkai, Sanada is the vice-captain, and Renji is the team's smarts who uses "Data Tennis" like Inui. In fact, Inui and Renji were friends as kids.
7. Which one of these are not one of Fuji's counters?

Answer: Meushi

Higuma Otoshi, Hakugei, Kagerou Zutsumi, are three of Fuji's counters. They translate into animals. Higuma Otoshi: Bear, Hakugei: Whale, Kagerou Zutsumi: Dragonfly. Fuji also has a few other counters he uses in the later series.
8. Which one of these players are on the team "Hyotei?"

Answer: Jiro Akutagawa

Jiro is a lazy player from Hyotei, who usually takes naps during boring matches and needs to be waken up by Kabaji. The other three players are from Fudomine and St. Rudolph.
9. How many players are in Seigaku?

Answer: Nine

Ryoma, Tezuka, Fuji, Eiji, Oishi, Kawamura, Inui, Kaidoh, and Momoshiro. Ryoma is the main character, of course. He is the youngest player of Seigaku at the age of 12. Tezuka is the captain of the team, and Oishi is the vice-captain. Fuji is the prodigy of Seigaku - with his counters he wins almost every match played. Eiji is an acrobatic player who uses his skills to win doubles matches with his partner, Oishi. Together, they form the "Golden Pair." Kawamura is usually very gentle and shy, but when he gets a hold of his racket, he turns violent and uses his power to win matches.

Inui collects data from his opponents and uses it against them, spotting weaknesses. Kaidoh's special signature move is the "Snake Shot." Momoshiro (often referred to as "Momo" or "Momo-chan") uses his smashes to win matches.

He is a rival to Kaidoh, even as freshmen. His signature smash is the "Dunk Smash." He is Ryoma's best friend in the series, and they usually go get burgers and snacks with their spare time.
10. What is Kaidoh's move "Snake Shot" originally known as?

Answer: Buggy Whip Shot

Kaidoh's signature move, the "Snake Shot," is originally known as the "Buggy Whip Shot," just given a different name. He later develops a new move similar to the Snake Shot, called Boomerang Snake, that curves around the pole of the net to the opponent's side of the court. It is returnable, though.
