Emperor Huan, known as Liu Zhi died in the year 168, about 30 years before the Three Kingdoms conflicts started. Emperor Ling, known as Liu Hong, succeeded him.

When Dong Zhuo dethroned Emperor Shao and enthroned Xian, most of the lords throughout the land thought of Dong Zhuo as a tyrant. This event would one of the causes of his rise to power.

Cao Pi was the son of Cao Cao. In 220, Emperor Xian abdicated to Cao Pi, who then establiched the Wei Dynasty.
