1. Why did Milly move to Oxford?

Answer: To attend secretarial college.

Milly wanted to go travelling with her friends to Ibiza and Amsterdam. Unfortunately her mother argued that attending secretarial college would be much more useful.

2. Where did Milly meet Allan and Rupert?

Answer: On a patch of lawn at Corpus Christi College.

After meeting, the three of them spent the day drinking Pimms and soaking up the sun. The book never mentions Milly drinking in any wine bar in Oxford, although I am sure she did. Milly never attended Wimbledon and her car never broke down on M4 or any other highway.

3. Who is Esme Ormerod?

Answer: Milly's godmother.

None of Milly's old school friends appear in the book. Olivia does not have a sister and Olivia's mother is never mentioned.

4. What did Rupert's father do for a living?

Answer: Headmaster.

Rupert became a barrister. There are no rock stars in the book. The only vicar mentioned is Canon Lyton.

5. What is Rupert's wife called?

Answer: Francesca

Isobel is Milly's sister and Olivia is Milly's mother. Pearl does not exist in the book.
