Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which was his first book, in which Dr. Judd Stevens is certain that someone is out to kill him?

Answer: The Naked Face

An excellent book that Sidney Sheldon hadn't even planned on making into a novel...it had started out as a screenplay!
2. In this book three young female doctors begin their first-year residency at Embarcadero County Hospital. Dr. Paige Taylor, Dr. Kat Hunter, and Dr. Honey Taft all in different ways somehow manage to turn this hospital upside down! Which book is this?

Answer: Nothing Lasts Forever

Yep, Paige pulls a Dr. Kevorkian, Kat gets pregnant by another doctor who doesn't want to be tied down so he kills her, and Honey...well, Honey only passed med school by getting especially close to the Dean of Schools.
3. Jamie McGregor moves to Klipdrift in search of diamonds. This book goes through several generations: his Daughter Kate Blackwell, her son Tony, and his twin daughters Eve and Alexandra Blackwell. Who will run Kruger Brent Lmt., the company Jamie McGregor founded after arriving and surviving the trials and tribulations of South Africa?

Answer: The Master of the Game

Poor boy Jamie found his diamonds and founded the company Kruger-Brent. His daughter Kate took it over when she was old enough...her son wanted nothing to do with it and winds up in a home for the insane, until his lobotomy. Before that, he had twin daughters, one of which wanted to be an only child, and kept trying to make it so.
4. The stories of Catherine Alexander and Noelle Page, and how these two very different women wind up interacting and what they have in common.

Answer: The Other Side of Midnight

Noelle Page grew up in France as the daughter of a fishmonger who convinced her that she was a princess, until the day he sold her to a dress shop owner. When she runs away from him she meets Larry Douglas, who promises to marry her when he goes on leave from the RAF, and never returns. Catherine Alexander grew up in America thinking she was the only virgin on the planet.

She got a job working for Bill Frasier, who "introduced" her to Larry Douglas, and she winds up marrying him. Then Larry gets a job flying a very angry, grudge holding Noelle's personal plane...then things get bloody.
5. Toby Temple was the top comedian. Jill Castle was a poor Polak that moved to Hollywood to become an actress. Nothing went her way until she crossed paths with Toby and gave him something no one else would...nothing. :)

Answer: A Stranger in the Mirror

Toby wanted very much to please his mother as a boy, and from the first moment he made her laugh, he knew he wanted to be a comedian. He struggled for years before he became a star. Jill was a poor kid who wanted to become an actress, and had no success at it until she met Toby.

She was the only woman he knew who wouldn't sleep with him, so he found himself intrigued and fell in love with her. They got married, and things skyrocketed from there.
6. Lara grew up in Nova Scotia with a father who couldn't care less what happened to her, and no mother at all. She moved to the United States when she could and became a powerful woman building sky scrapers and other buildings. She fell in love with Phillip, a world- class pianist, and her buildings and debt start to overcome her.

Answer: The Stars Shine Down

Laura's mother died giving birth to her, and her father was a drunk who didn't want to raise a little girl...so he didn't. She was very intelligent, though, and managed to become very important. When she moved to the United States she became known as the Iron Butterfly. Marrying Phillip was hard on her career, though, as she wanted nothing more than to be in his company.
7. Constantin Demeris visits a woman with amnesia at a convent. She'd been rescued by the nuns and needs to remember who she is and why she's there...

Answer: Memories of Midnight

A great sequel to "The Other Side of Midnight". Catherine lives on, but Constantin can't have her remembering her tragic past. As her memory starts to come back, some very unexpected "accidents" start happening.
8. A fast-paced thriller with Mary Ashley, a loving mother, and new widow, Mike Slade, deputy chief, Dr. Louis Desforges, and Angel "The Angel of Death"...the most skilled killer on Earth.

Answer: Windmills of the Gods

Angel, better known as "The Angel of Death" is trained to kill, and works for the Mob.
9. A struggling attorney is tricked into scaring a protected witness by delivering him a dead canary. She then winds up working for the Mafia, something you wouldn't expect from this innocent and honest young female lawyer.

Answer: Rage of Angels

Oh yeah...she's struggling to become this great attorney and it didn't work out so well! Someone who seemed harmless enough handed her an envelope asking her to deliver it to this guy. Turns out it was a dead canary, and the protected witness no longer felt safe and he refused to testify, causing the Mafia to win the case.
10. True or False: Most of his novels have become major films or TV miniseries.

Answer: True

Yep, they sure have! "The Other Side of Midnight" and "Memories of Midnight", "Nothing Lasts Forever", and "Master of the Game" are some, among others. :)
