When Shame found Angela, he phoned Sonny, played by Charles S. Dutton, and told him where they were. While waiting for Sonny, he learned that his purpose for finding Angela had been set up and they escaped.

Ernesto Mendoza, played by Andrew Divoff, was the leader of a drug ring when Shame was a cop. Shame's career was ended when he was framed for being connected to the drug ring. Angela was Mendoza's girlfriend first until Shame stole her from him. He wanted to kill Shame for ruining his life and taking his girl and his money.

Shame took Angela to a hotel before they went after Mendoza. They ended up talking about their old relationship and Shame asked her what was she going to do with Mendoza's money. He reminded her that she could still be Cleopatra like she wanted to when she was little.

When Shame met Mendoza and Sonny at the mall to get Peaches back, Shame realized that Sonny was the one that set him up to lose his job. Sonny explained that he would've cut the force in on the money if they would have complied, but they told him the only way they would participate was if Shame did. Wayman wanted to see who was shooting in the nightclub, so he broke his way through the crowd. When he realized it was Shame, he yelled across the room and waved. Mendoza realized that he would kill Shame's friend instead of his own girlfriend. Shame jumped in front of Wayman to save him from the bullet. Everyone thought Wayman was shot, but it turned out that some wine had wasted on his shirt.
