Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the movie 'Angel Heart', who was the detective hired to locate a missing person?

Answer: Harry Angel

Harry Angel (played by Mickey Rourke), figured he was hired because his name probably appeared first in the phone book, but couldn't have been more wrong.
2. Who was the detective hired to find?

Answer: Johnny Favorite

Johnny Favorite was a semi-famous crooner before the war, until he was drafted, grimly injured, and presumed dead by mostly everyone, everyone except Mr. Cyphre, that is.
3. Who was interested in finding the missing party?

Answer: Louis Cyphre

Louis Cyphre was pretty vague on the details, never really diverging his actual interest in Johnny Favorite's whereabouts. He only expressed that he wanted to know if Johnny was indeed alive, or dead.
4. When and where is the setting for 'Angel Heart'?

Answer: 1950s New York and New Orleans

Although the book version, 'Falling Angel', took place in the late '50s solely in New York, screenwriter Alan Parker wanted it to have a 'Big Band' vibe, moving the movie version up to the earlier part of the decade.
5. Who was the fiancee of the missing person?

Answer: Margaret Krusemark

Beverly Marsh was a character in Stephen King's 'It",and Annie Wilkes also featured in another King book/movie, 'Misery'. Margaret Krusemark was played by veteran actress Charlotte Rampling. She was deeply involved in witchcraft, much like the tone of the movie.
6. Why was the missing person pursued to begin with?

Answer: He owed a debt which had not been collected.

Johnny wasn't quite lucky enough to have been a Lotto winner. The 'debt' was not revealed until the very end of the movie.
7. Which religion played a major role in this film?

Answer: Voodoo

Voodoo originated in France, and migrated to Haiti and New Orleans. There were several Voodoo scenes throughout the film, including an actual voodoo ceremony, complete with a (faux) chicken sacrifice.
8. Who was the first casualty of 'Angel Heart'?

Answer: Dr. Albert Fowler

Dr. Fowler was 'discovered' shot through the eye, gripping his deceased wife's photo. He covered up Johnny's false 12-year hospital stay, making him target number one.
9. Who did Epiphany Proudfoot end up being in relation to the private eye?

Answer: His daughter

Poor Harry found out too late that Epiphany was his daughter from the tryst with the Voodoo priestess and his secret love, Evangeline. She got sick and died, sad and simple, according to Epiphany.
10. Who did the man who engaged the detective's services end up being?

Answer: The devil

Louis Cyphre, otherwise known as Lucifer, was looking to collect Johnny Favorite's soul, which was promised to him in exchange for fame and fortune. Johnny got cold feet and decided to pull a switcheroo, replacing his soul with the poor unassuming soldier Harry Angel, whom he murdered right before being drafted.
