George is short-tempered, which can be seen when players Ben Williams and Norton fail to catch a fly ball because they couldn't decide who should catch it. George kicks a Gatorade barrel full of ice water in frustration. George goes to Frank Gates to take him out of pitching, despite Frank's protests and truthful statements that it wasn't his fault. George O. Farrell is from "Little Big League". Jimmy Dugan is from "A League of Their Own". Lou Piniella is a former Seattle Mariners manager.

Roger and J.P. are foster kids who live close to the Angels stadium. They love sneaking into the baseball games and watch them from trees. They get caught by a security guard because J.P. has been talking too loud, and are forced to leave. The next day, they actually get tickets to watch the game in the spectator seats.

Triscutt is first seen walking toward George and Frank during the first game. Later after the game, he is seen telling another player not to touch him anywhere. Then he complains that they have the wrong salami, but he eats it anyway. When he is shown batting the next day, he feels some sort of power in his arms.

After the pitch, he swings and hits the ball so hard that the bat breaks and part of the baseball hide tears.

Ranch is a cruel broadcaster, known for making snide remarks about the Angels. He and George are known to have been fighting since they were players. Wally Holland is from "Little Big League", and Scotty Smalls is from "The Sandlot".

Roger is desperate to be back with his father, so he prays for help to get the Angels to win the pennant. The next day, Roger and J.P. go to the Angels stadium to watch a game as true spectators. When Ben Williams tries to catch a fly ball, Roger sees a couple angels fly down to pick Ben up by the wrists to help him catch the ball that would've led to a home run for the opposing team. Everyone is surprised to see that happen. Since Roger is the only one who can see the angels, everyone else assumes that it is some sort of glitch. Al appears by Roger a minute later to explain it to him. Al then mentions that the little angels are the rookies.

He also tells Roger that he is the boss angel, and that no one can see or hear the angels except Roger because of his prayer.

After Roger sees an angel massaging Danny Hemmerling, he tells George to pinch hit, despite the fact that Ray Mitchell is getting ready to bat. George states that Mitchell is the best hitter, and that Hemmerling can't hit the side of a barn, which means Hemmerling is the worst hitter. George ends up deciding to pinch hit anyway, which angers the fans because they know about Mitchell being the best hitter and Hemmerling the worst.

When Roger, J.P. and George get neighboring kids to play some baseball, Marvin is seen climbing onto a car hood. He bats after J.P. when George tells him that moment is the perfect time to learn how to play baseball after Marvin reveals that he doesn't know how to play.

After the kid who bats after Marvin hits a home-run, George tells Marvin to run home. Marvin, thinking that he actually needs to run home, does run to his house. After realizing his mistake, George laughs and tosses the baseball into the air.

Roger tells George that J.P. doesn't ride cars because J.P. gets carsick. Roger then explains that J.P. used to live in a car with his mom, and J.P. often would sleep curled up like a cat in the front seat. J.P's stomachache always comes back when he gets into a car. Later, J.P. gets into Maggie's station wagon after Roger's hearing.

Hank knows about George's temper. Ranch is mentioned to have pressed charges against George for punching Ranch. After Hank finds out about the angels and George uses two kids for good luck, he threatens to fire George, but gives George another chance by calling a press conference. Hank ends up allowing George to remain as manager after the whole team states they won't play for anyone but George.

Ranch claims that the Angels aren't smart when George lets Mel Clark pitch, despite Mel throwing 159 pitches. Hank turns off the radio upon hearing this. After the game, Hank goes to Ranch to tell him he's fired. Ranch tells Hank he can't fire him by claiming he has a contract. Wally is happy that Ranch is fired and turns off Ranch's broadcaster microphone and says, "Easy Ranch, less is more." Wally then turns on his microphone and says, "And the Angels have won it."
