Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In which movie did Christopher Lee play Frankenstein's monster?

Answer: Curse of Frankenstein

Victor Frankenstein (Peter Cushing) successfully brought a dead dog back to life. He decided to put together the perfect person. He put a robber's corpse with hands and eyes from others. To get a good brain for the creation, he pushed his professor off the top of the stairs, killing him, and later removed the professor's brain.

He put the brain and various parts together and brought the monster (Christopher Lee) to life. As time went on the monster turned violent and killed a blind man in the woods. Frankenstein's assistant, Dr. Paul Krempe (Robert Urquaart) shot the monster and buried it in the woods.

However, Dr. Frankenstein went back and dug up the monster and brought it back to life. "Curse of Frankenstein" was one of the first of the Hammer horror films starring Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing.

This was the only time Lee played Frankenstein's monster.
2. In which of these "Frankenstein" movies did a woman's body have a man's spirit?

Answer: Frankenstein Created Woman

In this sad movie a little boy happened to see his father get executed. He grew up poor, and worked for Dr. Frankenstein. He dated the barkeeper's daughter, who had a large mark on her face which people made fun of. One night he got into a fight with three rich young men at the bar. Later, they returned and killed the barkeeper, but the poor boyfriend of the barkeeper's daughter got blamed and was executed.

The barkeeper's daughter (Susan Denberg) became depressed and drowned herself. Dr. Frankenstein (Peter Cushing) fixed the girl's face and resurrected her by putting her boyfriend's spirit into her body. Now that she was beautiful, she seduced and murdered the three men who had murdered her father, while her boyfriend's spirit spoke to her through her own mouth.
3. In which of these "Frankenstein" movies did Peter Cushing star as Dr. Frankenstein?

Answer: Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell

Herr Schneider (David Prowse) was kept alive after a suicide attempt. Frankenstein (Peter Cushing) grafted hands of a sculptor (Bernard Lee) onto Schneider. Calling himself Dr. Carl, Victor Frankenstein was doing experiments in an insane asylum. His newly created Schneider/sculptor monster went on a killing spree until other inmates killed the monster.
4. Tom Noonan, who had played Red Dragon in "Manhunter", also played Frankenstein's monster in which of these movies?

Answer: The Monster Squad

The 1987 movie "The Monster Squad" involved teenagers and children who found themselves to be the only ones who knew how to fight the classic movie monsters when they came to life. Tom Noonan played Frankenstein's monster as a giant who became friends with the little girl. Other monsters included Dracula, the Wolf Man, the Mummy, and the Creature From the Black Lagoon.
5. In which "Frankenstein" movie does the monster destroy its previous body?

Answer: The Revenge of Frankenstein

In the movie "The Revenge of Frankenstein", the first sequel to "Curse of Frankenstein", Dr. Frankenstein, who called himself Dr. Stein (Peter Cushing), moved to a different town and worked on lots of patients, which made the members of the local medical board jealous. Meanwhile, Dr. Stein did an operation putting the brain of his assistant, Karl, into a different body, because Karl's right side had been paralyzed by a blood clot.

After the new Karl (Michael Gwynn) recovered from having his brain put into a new body, he found his old body and burned it.

Another worker at Stein's hospital saw what happened and confronted the new Karl, who killed him. Meanwhile, word got out that Dr. Stein was really the infamous Dr. Frankenstein, and Frankenstein's patients attacked him. Karl's new body began to paralyze as his old body had.
6. Who played as Dr. Frankenstein in the movie "Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man"?

Answer: Nobody

Of course, the image people have when reading the title "Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man" is the wolf man fighting Frankenstein's monster. However, the monster had no name, and this movie had no Dr. Frankenstein. The only time the wolf man, Larry Talbot (Lon Chaney Jr), met someone named Frankenstein was when he met the daughter of the Dr. Frankenstein from "Ghost of Frankenstein".

However, he did find the monster (Bela Lugosi). Of course, the story involved the wolf man getting resurrected from his coffin under a full moon and later wanting a doctor to cure him of turning into a wolf man, or at least kill him.
7. In which Lugosi/Chaney movie did Frankenstein's monster throw a woman through a window?

Answer: Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein

Dr. Sandra Mornay (Lenore Aubert) was a lady scientist who intended to put Costello's brain in Frankenstein's monster, but the monster escaped and threw her through a window. Larry Talbot, the wolf man (Lon Chaney Jr), wanted to prevent Dracula (Bela Lugosi) from doing the experiment on Frankenstein's monster (Glenn Strange).

However, Bud Abbott and Lou Costello had delivered Dracula and Frankenstein's monster before Larry Talbot came to town.
8. Which Lugosi/Chaney "Frankenstein" movie co-starred Evelyn Ankers (1918-1985)?

Answer: Ghost of Frankenstein

They had also been in "The Wolf Man" together, but this time Evelyn Ankers played as Elsa Frankenstein who read Frankenstein's diary while living in the house where her father was doing experiments with Frankenstein's monster (Lon Chaney Jr) and Ygor (Bela Lugosi). Ankers was born on August 17, 1918 in Valparaiso, Chile and died on August 29, 1985 in Maui, Hawaii of ovarian cancer.
9. Which Lon Chaney Jr "Frankenstein" movie showed a hunchback woman?

Answer: House of Dracula

After having a hunchback man in "House of Frankenstein", someone decided to put a hunchback woman nurse, Nina (Jane Adams), in "House of Dracula". Of course, this is the busy movie in which Dr. Edelmann (Onslow Stevens) cured the wolf man (Lon Chaney Jr), and tried to cure Dracula (John Carradine).

He also found Frankenstein's monster (Glenn Strange). After he realized Dracula was up to something, Dr. Edelmann exposed the sleeping Dracula to sunlight, but Dracula had already mixed his own blood with that of Dr. Edelmann. I felt sorry for the hunchback nurse at the end when it looked like Dr. Edelmann (Onslow Stevens) had gone crazy and pushed her down after he had resurrected Frankenstein's monster (Glenn Strange). Compared to everyone else in the movie, the hunchback woman and the cured wolf man (Lon Chaney Jr) acted more normal than the other people.
10. In which of these movies did John Carradine play as the ghost of Dr. Frankenstein?

Answer: Frankenstein Island

Sheila Frankenstein (Katherine Victor) turned shipwrecked sailors into zombies and sometimes spoke to the ghost of Dr. Frankenstein (John Carradine) in the movie "Frankenstein Island".
