Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Molly McGrath was so excited to be finally coaching a football team. Unfortunately, her ex-husband wasn't wild about the idea, especially when he found out where she would be coaching. What football flick was this?

Answer: Wildcats

Goldie Hawn was comical as Molly. My favorite part of the movie was at the end when all the football stars are singing and Goldie sings, "Football..."

James Keach plays her ex-husband, who is determined to either take Molly's job, or their two daughters away from her.

Nipsey Russell plays Ben Edwards, 'right...'
2. Gene Hackman has to take a team of 'misfits' and get them to play football together in this football frenzy. Keanu Reeves plays the quarterback, Shane Falco, in this movie. Shane crosses the picket line to play football, like the rest of the 'replacement' team. What cute football movie is this?

Answer: The Replacements

I can't pinpoint one great actor in this movie; it combines a great cast of players and cheerleaders. I enjoy this movie quite often, not just for the football, but the cheerleading auditions were a hoot too.
3. This movie may not be a football movie, but Reese Witherspoon is at college and wants to make sure that Warner notices her, while he's playing football. Neither him, nor his buddies had a hard time noticing this beauty. Which movie is this?

Answer: Legally Blonde

Reese plays the character Elle Woods in this classic movie. Elle is not your normal blonde bimbo, and she will do everything she can to get her sweetie, Warner Huntington III, to propose to her. Once she gets him, does she really want him? You'll have to rent the flick to find out.
4. Tom Baker has just gotten the job offer that he's been waiting years for. The only problem he might have is relocating a family of 14. Can you name this movie where Steve Martin coaches football?

Answer: Cheaper by the Dozen

Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt decide that moving to a new place is a good idea. Most of the children are disappointed, with the exception of Lorraine, who will be getting a larger clothing allowance out of the deal. Charlie Baker isn't too excited, but the car keys did help him adjust.

My favorite moments in this movie were the ones with Ashton Kutcher. The poor guy never knows what he's getting into half the time.
5. I could just say "Show me the money..." and you would get this answer. I could just say "you had me at hello" and you'd know this for sure. I could say "I love him for the man he almost is..." and you would surely know what movie I'm talking about. I'm not going to ask you for the movie title, I'll ask you for Tom Cruise's character name. Who does Tom Cruise portray in the movie, "Jerry Maguire"?

Answer: Jerry Maguire

Dorothy Boyd took the fish and walked out with Jerry to form their own business. They had one client, but they took it all the way to the top. Not only did Dorothy have a wonderful business, but she had the man that she truly loved.

You just know at the end of the movie that Jerry is going to make it, especially with Troy Aikman's comment about having 'that type of friendship' with his coach.
6. Burt Reynolds teams up against Warden Hazen for one of the roughest and toughest football games ever in this movie. It might be tough playing football, even if you weren't dealing with convicts. What movie is this?

Answer: The Longest Yard

Burt Reynolds plays the quarterback, Paul Crewe, in this football movie. The convicts are playing against the guards and Paul simply has a way with words, let alone football, in this movie. Both Reynolds and Eddie Albert were nominated for Golden Globes for this movie.
7. This football movie is one of my favorites. You might think that Rick Moranis was my favorite, but you would be wrong. You might think that Devon Sawa would be my favorite, but again, you would be incorrect. My favorite character was Jake Berman when he said "Don't be talking about my mama." What cute children's football movie was this?

Answer: Little Giants

Todd Bosley has an overly protective mother who bundles him up for his first football practice. All the 'not so great' children actually team up to make the "Little Giants" and slam the other team in the end. Rick Moranis plays the winning Coach O'Shea, while his no-good brother, played by Ed O'Neill is off on the side lines, shaking his head.
8. Greg, Peter and Bobby weren't supposed to play ball in the house, so they were tossing the football outside. There was a little nose that got in the way and bam! Marcia's nose took a turn for the worse. Marcia was so worried that she could never be a teen model after that. What comical movie was this?

Answer: The Brady Bunch Movie

Marcia walks down the stairs to meet Doug for the 'big date' with the 'big man on campus' and her hair covers her entire face. When she agrees to show Doug her nose, he didn't seem to mind. A few days later Marcia is back to her beautiful self. Doug took a nose dive, but Marcia was a hit.
9. This young man had something to prove to his brothers, his father, his friends and to himself. He knew that he wasn't a big tough guy, but he knew that he wanted to play football his entire life. He knew that he wanted to play only with Notre Dame and no where else. What true story was this?

Answer: Rudy

Sean Astin plays the role of Daniel Ruettiger, but his friends know him as Rudy. When Rudy gets carried off the field by his teammates, you just sit there and cheer him on too. You might even get a tear in your eye too. Look for the real Rudy in the scene where his father comes to watch him play. The real Rudy is sitting behind his father, played by Ned Beatty.
10. Rydell High wanted to ring their victory bell, but it seemed like they couldn't grasp the right players to make the team. First the players got their feet stuck in helmets. Then Tom Chisum couldn't keep his eyes off Sandy. Maybe this was the year for Coach Calhoun. What movie is this?

Answer: Grease

Sid Caesar played the role of Coach Calhoun in this cute 50s flick. Dody Goodman played the role of Blanche and she 'ripped em' as Coach Calhoun was giving his pep talk. Sandy, who is played by Olivia Newton John, was one of the cheerleaders for the team. Rah rah Sandy!

In the words of Principal McGee: "If you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter." Um... we'll leave the quiz on that note. Thanks for playing football!
