Answer: Jaya

Jaya is the eldest and shyest Bakshi sister. She meets Balraj when he comes to Amritsar to be best man at a wedding. One of her friends is marrying his friend.

Lalita is the film's Elizabeth Bennet. She meets Darcy at the same time that Jaya meets Balraj. Unlike Jaya and Balraj, however, Lalita and Darcy come to blows almost straight away when he makes the mistake of saying that arranged marriages are "backward".
Maya is the conservative sister. She believes she is a wonderful dancer and that she is able to play the sitar well. Unfortunately, she terrorises the Bakshis and their guests one night with her snake dance. She is constantly berrating Lakhi for not being modest around men.
Lakhi is the youngest and most outrageous sister. She likes clothes, boys, dancing and gossip, although not necessarily in that order. She carries on a secret relationship with Johnny Wickham after he leaves the Bakshi house.

Chandra knows that she might not get such a good an offer of marriage as Mr Kholi, unlike Lalita. She obviously believes that love comes later in marriage, as Mrs Bakshi tells Lalita.
Manorama is the name of Mrs Bakshi. Karin is Balraj's sister. Georgie is Will Darcy's sister.

Answer: Amritsar

Amritsar is the home of the Golden Temple - one of the incentives for Johnny Wickham to visit the Bakshis.
The Bakshi family are a middle-class family, but although their house is large, and they have a farm, both are a little bit rundown. Lalita helps her father run the farm, although Mrs Bakshi would rather she married Mr Kholi.

Answer: Goa

They go to Goa to see a hotel which Darcy's family might add to their already extensive chain. By the poolside, Darcy and Lalita get into a disagreement, causing a further divide between them, originally established at the pre-wedding party. Goa is also where Lalita first meets Johnny Wickham.

Karin is not as enamoured with India, and would rather forget that it is her motherland, saying that the "only thing India's good for is losing weight". She thinks of herself first as British, rather than Indian.
Balraj is a good dancer in the film, although, according to the DVD extras, he had a lot of extra help from the film's choreographers. He takes part in the first song of the film, leading the young men at the wedding in teasing the girls.

Answer: Ashanti

The song Ashanti sings really has no role in the storyline of the film. Many Bollywood films contain a song or dance number which is completely separate from the plot. The director integrated the song into the plot by showing different characters interacting throughout it and responding to the song.

Answer: Johnny Wickham

In this song, Lalita's sisters are teasing her about her "marriage" to Mr Kholi. She responds by talking about her ideal man. In my opinion, this is one of the best songs in a film full of amazing ones.

Answer: Giving Mr Kholi a shoulder rub.

Lalita actually gives Mr Kholi a foot rub. Apparently, Aishwarya Rai would only agree to do this if the actor's feet were sprayed with deodorant! Another little scene is in response to one of Lakhi's lines, "Maybe he's good in bed?" showing Mr Kholi on a heart-shaped bed with a disgusting thong on. Something I would rather forget!
After filming most of the songs in the film, the crew members did their own versions. These can be seen as extras on the movie's DVD. Director Gurinder Chadha also did something similar on her previous film, 'Bend It Like Beckham'.

This one of the numerous instances when Darcy puts his foot in it, although in his defence, Lalita jumps down his throat a bit. Other examples are, calling arranged marriages "backward", saying that the groom came to India to get married to keep things "simple" and calling the best hotel in Amritsar substandard compared to his family's hotels.
Although Martin Henderson (Will Darcy) hardly appears in any of the songs or does much dancing, he was encouraged by the film's choreographer to learn the dance routines.

Answer: Lakhi slaps Wickham at the front of a cinema theatre to the applause of the cinema audience

Lakhi slaps Wickham because he shouts after Lalita: "It was always you" because she believed he really cared about her. Lalita earlier slaps Wickham when he pleads with her not to go off with Darcy: "anyone but him". The fight scene between Johnny Wickham and Will Darcy mirrors the one happening in the scene playing behind them. This was taken from one of the first Bollywood films showing Indians in Britain.
