Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In addition to golf and swimming, name two other outdoor sport activities we KNOW are available at beautiful Bushwood Country Club.

Answer: Tennis and Horseback Riding

In one locker-room scene, Judge Smails tells Spaulding to get dressed for golf. Spaulding says he can't because today he's playing tennis with grandmother. The Judge tells him, "You'll play golf and like it." Also, in the opening sequence, just as he arrives at the club, Danny rides/walks his bike past a group of girls on horseback... complete with English riding gear.
2. Everybody would know that Fred Pickering is a bishop. What is his religious denomination?

Answer: Lutheran

When Danny is sucking up to the Bishop, the Bishop invites Danny to stop by the new Lutheran Youth Center. Danny says he's often thought of becoming a priest, and the Bishop (now realizing that Danny is Catholic) takes back the invite.
3. What brand of candy bar causes all the commotion in the swimming pool?

Answer: Baby Ruth

Under the right circumstances (like a pool full of rowdies) I suppose any of these chocolate bars might be mistaken for "doodie", but the Baby Ruth wrapper is clearly visible just before the bar is tossed in the water.
4. Which of these groups of three carbonated beverages are ALL specifically featured in the film?

Answer: Coke, Fresca and Perrier

Danny and D'Annunzio's fistfight is over the price of Coke. The Judge offers Danny a Fresca after the classic goodness-badness speech. Ty re-caps an open bottle of Perrier then tries to re-establish the 'fizz' before offering it to Lacey when she visits his oddly decorated bachelor pad. Also worth notice, RedBull is not carbonated, and it didn't exist when the film was made.
5. At the bar, Al asks D'Annunzio: "Hey ____, can you make a Bull-Shot?" What incorrect name does Al use?

Answer: Sabu

Gotta love D'Annunzio's response: "Can you make a shoe smell?" FYI: a "bull-shot" is a particularly nasty concoction of vodka, beef bouillon, lemon, Tabasco and Worcestershire. You probably already know how to make a shoe smell.
6. Which of the following is NOT an ingredient in Carl's hybrid turf grass?

Answer: Pythium Rye

Carl is quite proud of his signature blend, and mumbles the list of components to Ty in the scene where Webb is 'playing through' Carl's shack. There is no such thing as "pythium rye". Pythium is actually a fairly common fungal blight, often known as 'root rot'; truly a menace to the golfing industry.
7. When Maggie invites Danny up to her room with a sly wink, what obscure euphemism does she use to disguise her real intentions?

Answer: Help sort my holy cards

Danny certainly understands why Maggie is inviting him upstairs, and it's pretty obvious her roomies aren't shocked by the question or their actions. I guess a nice Catholic girl can't just come right out and ask for it.
8. In the climactic 'Smails and Beeper vs. Webb and Czervik' match, what common scoring format is being used?

Answer: Best ball, match play

Caddymaster Lou (who has been drafted as referee) explains the rules of the match in detail right after he asks the players to agree to "waive all sanctions... or anything that might get me fired." Under this format (also known as "four-ball") each player plays his own ball from tee to cup, with the lowest individual score winning the hole for his team.
9. Since Ty Webb doesn't bother to keep score (at least when he plays alone) how does he say he compares himself against other golfers?

Answer: By height

This is especially funny when Chevy Chase, at 6'4", is looking down to explain this to Ted Knight (5'9").
10. Bushwood is a private club, and Al, obviously is NOT a member. (If Judge Smails has anything to say about it, he never will be.) How is it that Al enjoys both golf and social privileges at the club?

Answer: He is a guest of the Scotts.

At the dinner-dance, when Mrs Smails asks her husband who that "vulgar man" is, Elihu responds gruffly, "Guest of the Scotts." Drew Scott and his lovely (but never-named) wife are the yuppie couple and hapless owners of the Porsche into which Spaulding pukes. They befriended Al when his construction company built their condo in Palm Beach.
