Although he is a slave at this point in the movie, there are many subtle references to the greater destiny that awaits Conan. He appears not only to be strong but also wise (in a barbaric kind of way). That is why the tribe leaders ask him for advice. He also gets to father many children, because the Barbarians seem to believe that he is a higher human being, destined for greatness, and so will his descendants be.

Crom is the God of Steel. He is the god Conan prays to, high atop a mountain. His father had told Conan about the power of steel and sword, through which the power of Crom is expressed. Conan learns more about Crom's power during his training as a gladiator and swordsman, until finally the god reveals himself to the Barbarian and grants him a mighty sword. Subotai prays to the four winds, whom he deems mightier than Crom. Thulsa Doom has declared himself a living god, but is also Conan's mortal enemy. Mammon is commonly known as the god of greed and parsimony.

He does, although he fancies himself a god. Conan chops off his head with two strikes of his blade. Then he throws the severed head down to the followers of Thulsa Doom's cult.

Answer: two serpents devouring one another

The standard of Thulsa Doom bears two serpents devouring each other. Conan first saw this when his village was invaded, when he was still a boy. His parents were murdered and he spent many years in slavery. The symbol of Thulsa Doom's snake cult is an expression of the power of flesh, which the emperor admires. It is defined by strength of will and total obedience.

He gets drunk (there is also a hint that several drugs were abused) and punches out a camel, which eventually collapses, when Conan moves along. This is one of the very few funny scenes in the movie, as it is completely unexpected. It also shows that Conan is not a man of many words.

Answer: Thorgrim and Rexor

Thorgrim is the dude with the ridiculously big warhammer. He is played by Sven-Ole Thorsen, a body-building buddy of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Rexor bears a sword and is played by Ben Davidson. Both of them are among the raiders who attacked Conan's village when he was still a boy. And both of them fall victim to Conan's wrath in the end.

After the slaying of his family, Conan was enslaved. The invaders chained him to a massive wheel (the wheel of pain, probably a grinding mill), where he spent the years of his youth. First, there were other slaves working beside him. Years went by, and we saw Conan working the wheel all by himself.

The amazing muscles finally raise the interest of a pit fighting trainer, and Conan is sold to become a fighter.

Answer: Subotai

Subotai - Conan's companion - frees him. Although he is one of the main characters of the movie, we get to know very little about the thief and bowman. Subotai is played by surfing legend Gerry Lopez. Still, Conan dies afterwards, but is brought back to life by the magic of the narrator.

Answer: Friedrich Nietzsche

The quote is: 'That which does not kill us, makes us stronger'. Nietzsche was born in 1844 and died in 1900 at the age of 55. The bold statement 'God is dead' also comes from the famous German philosopher. It is astounding that such theories were conceived by the son of a priest.

He kills Thorgrim's pet snake in the temple. A young woman is supposed to be sacrificed to the snake, but when she sees the bloody carcass in the pit, she screams and alerts the guards.
