Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. FBI Special Agent Joseph D. Pistone's undercover mission was to infiltrate a major organized crime family based in New York City. Who was the leader of the faction which would become the focus of Pistone's investigation?

Answer: Sonny Black

Joseph Pistone posed as a jewel expert from Miami named Donnie Brasco. After almost two years into his assignment, he finally succeeded in embedding himself into the operations of the Bonanno crime organization, doing so by maneuvering his way into the confidence of crew member Benjamin Ruggiero. Ruggiero introduced Donnie Brasco to mob associate Dominick "Sonny Black" Napolitano. Sonny Black would later be promoted to run the Brooklyn crew after the assassination of Bonanno family street boss Carmine Galante. Donnie would gradually work his way into Sonny's crew and become an associate.
2. Which of the following mob figures was Donnie associated with before first coming into contact with Lefty?

Answer: Jilly Four-Eyes

Jilly Four-Eyes was a member of a mob family from Queens. When Lefty found out Jilly knew Donnie, he went to Jilly to so he could learn more about Donnie before completely putting his trust in him. Jilly vouched for Donnie, describing him as a good earner who kept to himself.
3. Which neighborhood was Sonny Red given to run after being promoted?

Answer: Little Italy

The Little Italy section of New York City was one of the neighborhoods run by the Bonanno crime family. Street boss Carmine Galante was in charge of Little Italy's operations until Alphonse "Sonny Red" Indelicato, a Bonanno family member who worked under Galante, murdered him and took over as the new caporegime (boss).
4. Donnie quickly proved he had the makings of a gangster when he physically forced the owner of a local strip club into giving up his car as payment for an $8000 debt owed to Lefty. What was the make of the car?

Answer: Porsche

Lefty first approached Donnie with a diamond ring given to him by the club owner to clear the debt, and asked Donnie for $8,000 from his end. Donnie took one quick look at the diamond and told him it was a fugazy (a fake). Lefty, who had some doubts, had Donnie take him to the club to confront the owner about the ring.

Then thanks to Donnie, who intervened when he realized the man's life could be in danger, Lefty came away with a Porsche Carrera.
5. Lefty and Donnie were given the contract to find and whack which of the following?

Answer: Bruno

A contract was put out on Bruno after it was feared he may sooner or later come out of hiding to avenge the murder of his father, Sonny Red. Hitting Bruno would have opened the door for Donnie to becoming a made-guy, but moments away from having to pull the trigger, a team of federal agents suddenly rushed in and placed both Donnie and Lefty under arrest.
6. While down in Florida, Lefty asked Donnie to procure a boat for him so he could entertain mob boss Santo Trafficante Jr., a boat lover who Lefty intended to reach out to. What was the name of the boat?

Answer: The Left Hand

Lefty took interest in a nightclub called "King's Court", but needed permission from Trafficante to operate in Florida. Donnie convinced the FBI to provide him with a boat. Lefty then found out "The Left Hand" was actually a federal boat earlier used in a sting operation called ABSCAM, when he came across a picture of "The Left Hand" in an article.
7. In one of the most brutal scenes, Donnie witnessed the vicious beating of Mr. Moto, the Maître D' of a Japanese restaurant where he and his mob associates were planning on eating dinner. Which of the following was NOT involved in delivering the beating?

Answer: Lefty Ruggiero

As part of a Japanese tradition, it was necessary for the restaurant's customers to take their shoes off and dine on the floor. Donnie, who had a tape recorder which he used to collect evidence for the F.B.I hidden in his right boot, refused to do so to avoid blowing his cover.

When the others also refused, Mr. Moto insisted, which led to him being hauled into the restroom and unmercifully assaulted. Lefty was also at the restaurant but remained outside the restroom to make sure no one would enter.
8. Lefty Ruggiero committed a total of 26 murders for the mafia.

Answer: False

Lefty repeatedly complained to Donnie about having 26 hits under his belt and nothing to show for it, especially when being overlooked by the bosses for promotion. But the number would then rise when he took part in the murders of Sonny Red and two of his top guys, along with single handedly whacking fellow mobster Nicky Santora, who was falsely accused of being a rat.
9. Which of the following completes the famous line delivered by Donnie? "I'm not becoming one of them Maggie, ______________."

Answer: I am them

Playing the role of a gangster caused Donnie to develop the mentality of one. Maggie was extremely repulsed by Donnie's change of attitude, and during a verbal confrontation which would eventually become physical, she accused him of becoming one of them, to which Donnie would then respond, "I'm not becoming one of them Maggie, I am them".
10. In one of the more entertaining scenes in the movie, Donnie explained the multiple meanings of "fuggetaboutit", "forget about it" in gangster lingo. Which was NOT one of the instances in which the phrase "fuggetaboutit" was used by gangsters, according to Donnie's explanation?

Answer: When asked to whack a made guy

One of the FBI technicians who listened in on the wiretaps frequently heard the gangsters, and even Donnie on some occasions, utter the phrase "fuggetaboutit", and asked Donnie what it meant. "Fuggetaboutit" is also like saying "go to hell". Sometimes it just means "forget about it".
