Maggie and Dana are Ashley's best friends. They believe she is one of the luckiest people in the world. They try to prove their theory by using scratch cards. Their theory seems to work and Ashley wins every time, until she loses her luck to Jake at the masquerade bash.

They also employ this method later in the movie when Ashley finds the hired dancers at the bash, and exchanges a kiss with each one of them, to see if she has got her luck back.

Harry drops one of his drum sticks down a trap door. After climbing down to retrieve it, Jake shuts the door to save anyone falling down it. This traps Harry beneath the stage. He eventually figures a way to get out.
