Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which Judy film revolved around the World's Fair coming to town, included the song 'The Boy Next Door', and co-starred Margaret O'Brien?

Answer: 'Meet Me In St. Louis'

This picture was to become one of MGM's all-time grossers, second only to 'Gone with the Wind'. If you don't know Margaret O'Brien, you have to see the movie just because of her.
2. Which Judy film co-starred Angela Lansbury, had a business depending on the arrival of trains, and included the song 'On the Atchison, Topeka and the Sante Fe'?

Answer: 'The Harvey Girls'

'On the Atchison, Topeka and the Sante Fe' won an Academy Award in 1946 for Best Song. I love the scene where she has to go to the saloon to get the meat shipment back.
3. Which Judy film had scenes at Grand Central Station and marrying a soldier? And, can you believe it, she doesn't sing in this movie?

Answer: 'The Clock'

She almost didn't get to do this film because Arthur Freed (producer) felt the public wanted to hear her sing.
4. Which Judy film involved the character coming to {America;} she also played a dual role, and it co-starred George Murphy?

Answer: 'Little Nellie Kelly'

'Little Nellie Kelly' was released in 1940, one year after 'The Wizard of Oz'. This is the only movie for which Judy performed a dying scene.
5. Which Judy film had her co-star saying in the movie that she has no sex appeal, included the song 'A Couple of Swells', and was released in 1948?

Answer: 'Easter Parade'

This movie was originally supposed to co-star Gene Kelly, but he broke his ankle playing football right before shooting was to start. Fred Astaire came out of retirement to replace Kelly.
6. Which Judy film included barns and tractors, had the song 'Get Happy', and was her last movie with MGM?

Answer: 'Summer Stock'

The number 'Get Happy' was added after filming had ended, in order to fill more screen time. If anybody understood the musical number with all the barking dogs, let me know!
7. Which Judy film's primary setting was in a music store, was a remake of the movie 'Shop Around The Corner', and co-starred Buster Keaton?

Answer: 'In The Good Old Summertime'

'You've Got Mail' was also a remake of 'Shop Around The Corner'.
8. Which Garland film co-starred Hedy Lamarr, was released in 1941, and included the song 'Minnie From Trinidad'?

Answer: 'Ziegfeld Girl'

9. Which Judy film co-starred Gene Kelly, took place during World War 1, and included the song 'Ballin' The Jack'?

Answer: 'For Me and My Gal'

This film marked Gene Kelly's official MGM screen debut. This film also was the first time her name was billed alone over the title.
10. OK, now, an easy one - Which Judy film had flying monkeys?

Answer: The Wizard of Oz

Please tell me you got this one right. Did you know the song 'Over the Rainbow' was almost pulled from the movie because they felt it slowed down the story?
