Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In what century is "Logan's Run" set?

Answer: 23rd century

I have always been curious how they got there - the physical 'moving in', and how the city was initially organized and run. The brief preamble to the story is: "Sometime in the 23rd century... the survivors of war, overpopulation and pollution are living in a great domed city, sealed away from the forgotten world outside.

Here, in an ecologically balanced world, freed by the servo-mechanisms which provide everything..."
2. What is the age when one must participate (i.e. die) in Carrousel?

Answer: 30

"There is just one catch: life must end at thirty, unless reborn in the fiery ritual of Carrousel." In Carrousel the participants float in the air and are destroyed by fire. In the book, "Logan's Run" by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson, the age in which one must die is 21.
3. In the beginning of the movie, who are the lucky participants in Carrousel?

Answer: Capricorn 15s, born 2244

Instead of using months of the calandar, the city uses Zodiac signs. "Logan's Run" is set in the year 2274. The people participating in Carrousel are born on the 15th day of Capricorn. Choose Carrousel and you have a good chance to renew (reincarnated). You can try running to escape the sealed, domed city; however,if you are caught by the sandmen(the police), you are terminated and there is no renewal.
4. The people who live in the domed city wear clothes that are color coordinated to their life clock age. What is the order from baby to 30?

Answer: White(clear), yellow, green, red

The life clock, which is the jewel in the palm of the left hand, blinks red on last day.
5. Where are the Bad Ones (Cubs) located?

Answer: Cathedral Plaza

The Cubs are yellows WHO are anti-social and violent. Once you turn green (16 years) you have to leave or be killed by other Cubs.
6. What is the Aesculaptor Mark 3?

Answer: the body and face sculpting machine

Located in the New You #483 shop, the Aesculaptor Mark 3 is the latest in body and face sculpting surgical machines. It is self-contained, with a tilt bed and cryojectors in the platform. It also includes instant healing, a new innovation. Doc tries to kill Logan by turning off the instant healing.

After a struggle, Doc ends up getting himself killed. This starts Logan's effort to leave the domed city. Seventies sex symbol Farah Fawcett-Majors plays Holly, Doc's assistant.
7. What was Box's purpose?

Answer: to process fish, plankton, sea greens and protein from the sea

According to Box, played by Roscoe Lee Browne, "I'm more than machine or man...more than a fusion of the two."
8. The Old Man lives with hundreds of cats in what Washington D.C. building?

Answer: The Capitol Building

According to the Old Man, he left the mansions because they were too small and there were not enough mice. I guess there are a lot of mice in the Capitol Building!
9. How old is the Old Man?

Answer: unknown

When the Old Man is asked how old he is, he replies, "I am as old as I am...". The Old Man does not remember his own name, either. He never cared much for it anyway! The Old Man is played by Peter Ustinov.
10. The Old Man talks to Jessica and Logan about his cats. What poet does the Old Man quote?

Answer: T.S. Eliot

The many passages about his cats are from T.S. Eliot's "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats".
