Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Pat works for David. What does she do for him?

Answer: Housekeeper

You are introduced to Pat near the beginning of the film, as David (Hugh Grant, the Prime Minister) walks into his new home and is immediately introduced to his new members of staff. Pat is seen as an old lady, very nice and obviously a housekeeper. The Prime Minister - David - says that her job should be easier than it was last time, as he has no teenagers, babies or 'scary wives'.
2. Which film do Sam and his step-dad Daniel watch?

Answer: Titanic

Sam has been spending all his time in his room since his mum, Joanna, died. When he finally tells his step-dad what is wrong, you find out that he is in love with a girl at his school. They try to think of a plan but then end up just watching 'Titanic' anyway. You see a small piece of the film, with Leonardo DiCaprio taking Kate Winslet to the edge of the boat and asking, "Do you trust me?". Then you see Sam and his step-dad doing the same.

The actor who plays Sam (Thomas Sangster) is also in multiple other films, including 'Nanny McPhee'.
3. Karen tells Daniel to cook something for Sam to 'perk him up'. What is it?

Answer: Chicken kebabs

Karen (played by Emma Thompson) and Daniel (Liam Neeson) are best friends, both with children.

Daniel takes Karen's advice and cooks Sam chicken kebabs whilst Sam is practicing his drums in his bedroom. However, Karen's plan doesn't work, as Sam replies, "I'm not hungry!". When Daniel tells him what he has made, he simply says, "Look at the sign on the door", which reads 'I said - I'm not hungry'.
4. Billy Mack does a rendition of 'Love Is All Around' called 'Christmas Is All Around'. When he goes on a radio show, he says that during the song they have tried to 'squeeze an extra syllable in'. Which line is it?

Answer: "So if you really love Christmas, come on and let it snow."

Billy Mack (played by Bill Nighy) is referred to in the film as 'the bad Grandad of Rock and Roll'. You see him being interviewed on the radio, talking to a presenter named Michael. When Michael asks him what he thinks of the record, he says, "You know as well as I do, the record is rubbish." He then goes on to talk about adding an extra syllable to the fourth line of the song.
5. What does Jamie tell his Portuguese housekeeper is his favourite part of the day?

Answer: Driving her home

At the beginning of the film, Jamie (Colin Firth) is seen telling his girlfriend (played by Sienna Guillory) how much he loves her. She is staying at home that day, as she has a cold. Jamie goes to a wedding and, at his lunch break, comes back to check on her.

He finds her there, with his brother, and I needn't say more. He moves to a different home in France where he is acquainted with a housekeeper/cleaner named Aurelia. She falls in love with him, and he falls in love with her. There is a very strong language barrier, and she mimes to him about driving her home.

He then replies, "Yes. My favourite time of the day - driving you home." She can't understand, but she replies (in Portuguese), "My least favourite time of the day - leaving you."
6. You get to see one wedding in the film. Who gets married?

Answer: Peter and Juliet

Peter (Chiwetel Ejiofor) and Juliet's (Keira Knightley) wedding is near the start of the film. They are being filmed by Mark, Peter's best friend. You find out further into the film that Mark is in love with Juliet. Near the end of the film, he knocks at the door and tells her that he loves her.

However, he doesn't want Peter to hear, so he tells her to tell him that it is carol singers at the door and conveys his message through large pieces of card. He then walks away.
7. When John and Judy are first introduced, they are on the scene of a movie. What is the name of the production assistant of the movie they are performing stand in roles in?

Answer: Tony

Tony (played by Abdul Salis) is Collin Frissell's best friend. He is also the production assistant of the film that is the meeting place of John and Judy. When being introduced, John says, "I'm John," to which Judy replies, "I'm just Judy," He then says, "Oh, ok. Hi, Just Judy," This is pretty much the first thing they say to one another. They then continue to talk about the traffic.
8. Colin Frissell feels that he is on the wrong continent to 'get girls'. Which continent does he think he should be on?

Answer: America

Colin Frissell (Kris Marshall) thinks that he needs to be somewhere else in order to attract girls. He moves to America for a while, where he attracts girls within about 10 seconds of being in a bar. At the end of the film, he brings home two girls: one for himself and one for his best friend.
9. When Harry goes to buy a necklace for Mia, does he agree to have it gift wrapped?

Answer: Yes

Allowing for it to be gift wrapped is the worst option for him to have taken. The jeweller - Rufus (Rowan Atkinson) - puts the necklace in a box, puts the box in a cellophane wrapper, then fills it with sweets, lavender, cinnamon and other seemingly unnecessary items, which takes so long that Harry's wife, Karen, comes back and Harry has to go another time for the necklace. Karen sees the necklace when he comes back and thinks it is for her, and so when it comes to Christmas and she doesn't get it, she realises that it must have been for someone else.
10. Who, at the end of the film, does Billy say he loves?

Answer: His manager, Joe

Billy Mack is meant to be at a party, hosted by Elton John. However, he returns home and is very surprised to see his manager, Joe, there. When Joe asks him why he isn't at Elton John's, Billy replies that at Christmas, you have to be with loved ones. He then tells Joe that, in fact, he is the 'love of his life'. They then 'get drunk and watch porn'.
