Kathy won a Best Actress award for this role. She appears in both "Titanic" and "About Schmidt".

Paul is a creature of habit. He always stays at the lodge before finishing a book. He has a single cigarette and a bottle of Dom Perignon delivered to his room to celebrate the ending. He also handwrites "THE END" in pencil. While Paul is being held by Annie she mentions the fact Paul is superstitious.

She states Paul always finishes his books at the Silver Creek Lodge. She also states it is no accident that she found him. She tells Paul she was following him while he is driving home from the lodge.

As Annie is bent over putting the flames out Paul lifts the typewriter up to smash her head in. Paul's attempt fails and the typewriter misses its mark. A fight then breaks out between Annie and Paul. Paul trips Annie during the fight, and she falls head first into the typewriter.
