James Sullivan is a large blue spotted monster whose best friend is Mike Wazowski, a small, green one-eyed monster. Celia is Mike's girlfriend who is a bit girlish and has live snakes as hair which (I expect) is pretty normal for monsters. She goes out on a date with Mike one day and it is the same day when Sulley finds the little kid who has come into the world of monsters. The date turns out to be an utter flop and Celia is not so happy to see Mike the next day-in fact, even her snakes aren't!

The monsters are terrified that they will get infected and they run away as soon as they see her within one meter of them. Sulley and Mike take her to their house but are scared of her too. They try to make her sleep on a pile of newspapers but she chooses to sleep on Sulley's bed instead and Sulley decides that it's better to sleep on his rocking chair.

Mike is Sulley's assistant because if you've seen the movie, he's really not very scary. He looks more like a cuddly monster toy and he just helps Sulley keep his things in order. Mike is usually practical but sometimes gets (very) overexcited and tries to warn Sulley that keeping Boo would be dangerous. In the movie, he is a sort of likeable character who is sometimes pretty hilarious.

The manager is a fat monster with the legs and eyes of a spider. He is, however a conspirator of some undercover work in which Randall is involved. He once captures Boo to try an experiment on her and when Boo escapes and he finds Mike, he tries to use him instead.

The manager is really not what he looks like but he really admires Sulley as the top scarer and is disappointed when he has to send him away after Sulley witnesses what he (the manager) was doing.

There are monsters and yellow-suited people who are there to protect monsters from kids all over the place and Sulley has a difficult time getting in without being seen. He says Boo is one of his relatives and Mike tries to help with some unhelpful comments. Nobody realizes, though, and Sulley narrowly escapes losing his job and position.

Sulley does scare Boo but not intentionally. The manager asks him to demonstrate his scaring skills to some monsters who can't get the hang of it and he gives a loud roar with baring of teeth for extra emphasis and Boo happens to be right next to him during this demonstration.

This results in her capture (because she doesn't trust her only monster friend anymore) and Sulley getting fired.

The feared snowman turns out to be pretty friendly actually and offers them snow cones which are lemon flavored. He calls himself the 'friendly snowman' and wonders why all the people are afraid of him. He offers Mike and Sulley some suggestions which help them to find Boo. He also saves them from freezing to death.
