"Project X" is a science fiction comedy-drama about a misfit USAF airman named Jimmy Garrett (Matthew Broderick) who gets recruited to be in a top secret project where apes are trained in flight simulators and then exposed to radiation to see how long they can continue to fly after the exposure. Jimmy finds out that one of the young chimps knows sign language and he takes a liking to him. Jimmy locates the person who taught him sign language and together they try to save the chimp and the other apes from being needlessly killed.
