Answer: North Bath, NY

Paul Newman's character says the name of the town several times, especially when referring to Toby, played by Melanie Griffith, "The best lookin' woman in Bath."
This town, that the characters simply call "Bath", takes you to a place where people know one another for maybe their entire lifetime, which can be good and bad. It has a local bar you can walk to from your house on a cold night, to laugh with friends, and a cafe where you can get an ice cream sundae and be waited on by someone that has been there for 30 years.

As Ms. Beryl's only tenant, she relies on Sully (who she calls Donald) to help her whenever there is something wrong, such as a tree branch falling on a birdbath and breaking it, or when an elderly neighbor with a handicap is seen walking in the snow alone. Ms. Beryl taps on the ceiling to get Sully to come down from his room and take care of things.

He gives him his old stopwatch as a special gift and tells him that if he can use the stopwatch to keep himself brave for even a few seconds, he can keep increasing the number of seconds each time and he will become even braver.

At the TipTop when he sees Toby there, Sully has Will with him but doesn't want to admit that he is a grandfather. He wants Toby to think about him as young enough to be with her. However, Sully and Toby both know that this is just a fantasy that they play around with in their heads and through flirty conversation. The dog comes out of the drugs with no problems and actually becomes Sully's dog.
