Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. It's 1984 and we are at Adams College. Here you will find many fraternities, including Lambda, Lambda, Lambda. We have Gilbert, Lewis, Poindexter, Wormser, Lamar and Booger. What is Booger's real name?

Answer: Dudley Dawson

Curtis Armstrong portrayed Dudley "Booger" Dawson in "Revenge of the Nerds". Nicknamed "Booger", for reasons we won't go into, Dudley was the pot-smoking, belching, card-cheating, high school girl-dating member of the nerds. Armstrong was a second banana in many 80's films, including "Risky Business", "One Crazy Summer" and "Better Off Dead".

He was added to the cast of "Moonlighting" near the end of that show's run.
2. I am a top gun Navy pilot. My call name is Maverick because I'm a bit of a renegade. What is my first name?

Answer: Pete

"Top Gun" starred Tom Cruise as hot shot Navy pilot, Pete "Maverick" Mitchell. His character didn't care to follow the rules, preferring to do things his own way - hence the "Maverick" moniker. Tom Cruise went on to play many more "Top Gun"-like characters in films such as "The Color of Money", "Cocktail" and "Days of Thunder".
3. Johnny Castle and "Baby" Houseman make quite a pair, on and off the dance floor. What is "Baby's" first name?

Answer: Frances

"Dirty Dancing" starred Patrick Swayze and pre-rhinoplasty Jennifer Grey. The daughter of Joel Grey, she has also appeared in "Red Dawn" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". Frances "Baby" Houseman, could do no wrong in her father's eyes. She was the the youngest of two daughters and although a teenager, she didn't seem to mind her nickname.
4. Hawkeye, Trapper, Radar, Hot Lips, Dish, Dago Red, Duke. Well, you get the idea. The 4077th was rife with nicknames. What was Painless Pole's first name?

Answer: Walt

"M*A*S*H" was the movie with the many colorful nicknames. John Schuck played Walt "Painless Pole" Waldowski, the Polish dentist who wants to kill himself because he is afraid of being a homosexual. His friends, knowing that he is depressed, plan a fake suicide. The ensuing "last supper" is one of the most irreverent and funny scenes put on film.
5. Jack, Wendy and Danny Torrance are spending the winter taking care of the Overlook Hotel. What is Danny's nickname?

Answer: Doc

Danny Lloyd played Danny "Doc" Torrance in "The Shining". His nickname is a reference to Bugs Bunny's famous quote, "What's up, Doc?" His mother, Wendy, mentions this to Mr. Halloran as they are checking out the kitchen of the hotel. Unfortunately, what was up with "Doc" was that he was having horrible visions and his father was trying to kill him. Directed by Stanley Kubrick, this film featured Jack Nicholson at his psychotic best.

The "All work and no play make Jack a dull boy." scene was one of the most chilling scenes in film history.
6. Sonny Steele is a former rodeo star who has kidnapped a thoroughbred horse. Hallie Martin is the ace reporter looking for a good story. Sonny's real first name is Norman. What is Hallie's real first name?

Answer: Alice

Robert Redford starred as Norman "Sonny" Steele and Jane Fonda portrayed Alice "Hallie" Martin, in "The Electric Horseman". She got her nickname when she was a little girl. Her younger sister would call her for dinner by calling "Halice". Eventually "Halice" became "Hallie".

She shares this with Sonny while they are getting to know each other. Sonny never reveals the origin of his nickname.
7. Bluto, Flounder, D-Day and Mothball are just a few of the nicknames of the members of Delta house. Larry Kroger, future editor of "National Lampoon" magazine, was given what nickname?

Answer: Pinto

The movie is "Animal House", starring John Belushi and Tom Hulce as Larry "Pinto" Kroger. No explanation was given as to why he was called "Pinto". He was named by John "Bluto" Blutarsky after being accepted into Delta house. Hulce went on to win an Academy Award for his performance in "Amaedeus".
8. His nickname is "Psycho" and he says he will kill anyone who touches his stuff. If anyone calls him by his first name, he says he will kill them. Sgt. Hulka is not impressed and refers to him by his first name. What is it?

Answer: Francis

"Stripes" starred Bill Murray, Harold Ramis and George Jenesky as Francis "Psycho" Soyer. "Psycho's" bark was much worse than his bite. After his diatribe, he pretty much faded into the background. Murray and Ramis later appeared in "Ghostbusters" together.
9. Buffalo Bill is a ruthless, sadistic killer. Clarice Starling is the FBI agent out to catch him. What is Buffalo Bill's real name?

Answer: Jame

Ted Levine portrayed Jame Gumb, nicknamed by the police as "Buffalo Bill", to bone-chilling perfection in "The Silence of the Lambs". "Bill" liked to kidnap overweight young women, starve them down and remove their skin. He ultimately planned to make clothes from the skins of his victims. Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster won Oscars for their portrayals of Hannibal Lecter and Clarice Starling.
10. "Sugarlips" Shapiro is a POW in a German prisoner-of-war camp during WWII. Sefton, Cookie and Animal are just a few of the soldiers being held captive with him. What is "Sugarlips" real name?

Answer: Harry

Harvey Lembeck played Shapiro in "Stalag 17". He provided comic relief, trying to relieve the tension and stress of being a POW. He always received many letters during mail call. Many of them beginning with the salutation, "Dear Sugarlips". "Stalag 17" starred William Holden and Peter Graves and was the inspiration for the "Hogan's Heroes" television series.
