In the early part of the film, a debate takes place between the heroine and her friend, and the heroine argues that it is better to marry for love, while her friend argues that it is better to marry a person who is financially secure and successful.

In the film "Paying Guest", Ramesh, Dev Anand's character, is a lawyer by profession, but he staring out in life, so he isn't very experienced and is shown to often take a wrong line of argument. For example, at the beginning of the film, it is shown that Ramesh is fighting a case in a court of law, regarding a man who has eloped with a girl who is a minor.

In the movie, Chanchal, Shanti's friend, tries to get rid of her husband, with the help of Shanti's brother in law, Prakash and she is successful. This is because he helps her to carry out her plan. But after that he starts blackmailing Chanchal and threatens to expose her misdeeds. Shanti notices this, and goes to Chanchal's house to stop him from doing so.

She doesn't know that Chanchal has already committed a murder. But Prakash tries to shoot Chanchal. She takes the gun and disarms Prakash. Then she threatens to shoot him, if he doesn't leave her friend alone.

At that point, a shot is fired, and Prakash is killed. As a result, Shanti is accused of murdering her brother in law.
10. How does the film "Paying Guest" end?

Answer: Shanti is set free by the court, and Ramesh and she get married.

Shanti accepts that she committed the murder, so she is first arrested by the police and put in a lock-up, and then she is produced before a court of law on the charge of murdering Prakash. However, Shanti is proven to be innocent, when Chanchal confesses that she was the one who murdered Prakash, and not Shanti.

The court sets Shanti free on the basis of Chanchal's confession or admission of her crime before the court, while Chanchal is convicted and sentenced to a jail term. After the court case is over, Ramesh and Shanti get married and live happily ever after. Thus, the film "Paying Guest" has a happy and lively ending.
