Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In the 1953 film of "Peter Pan", as the opening credits roll Walt Disney Productions declare that are grateful to which London hospital for sick children?

Answer: Great Ormond Street

Sir James M. Barrie gave the copyright of "Peter Pan" to the hospital as a means for funding its operations. J.M. Barrie passed away in 1937 and normally, in the UK, the copyright would have expired 50 years later. A bill sponsored by the member of the house James Callaghan, who was an ex Prime Minister, gave rights to the hospital to collect royalties in perpetuity.
2. Which was the opening song in the 1953 film of "Peter Pan" which is heard while the opening credits were still rolling?

Answer: The Second Star to the Right

The song was performed by the Jud Conlon Chorus and the music was written by Sammy Fain to lyrics written by Sammy Cahn. "The second star to the right / Shines in the night for you / To tell you that the dreams you plan / Really can come true". Sammy Fain and Sammy Cahn were credited as songwriters and Jud Conlon for vocal arrangements.
The other three options are books written by J.M. Barrie and featured Peter Pan.
3. What is the name of the narrator of the 1953 animated film "Peter Pan"?

Answer: Tom Conway

Tom Conway was a British actor who appeared in various films and television productions. His birth name was Thomas Charles Sanders and he was the brother of actor George Sanders. Both Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp were born in 1963. Tom Conway's name appeared in the opening credits under the heading "With the talents of...".
4. The narrator of the 1953 film "Peter Pan" tells us that "...it happened in London. It happened on a quiet street in...". Which area of Central London was the narrator referring to?

Answer: Bloomsbury

Bloomsbury is part of the London Borough of Camden that contains many education institutions and museums. The most notable of these are the British Museum and University College London. The narrator starts saying that "All this has happened before. And it will all happen again. But this time it happened in London". The other three options are not located in Central London.
5. Entering the house where the Darlings lived we are met with too much commotion which is mainly caused by the father of the family. What is the name of Mr. Darling in the 1953 film "Peter Pan"?

Answer: George

George and Mary Darling were getting ready to go to a party and he was visibly upset trying to find something that was for him absolutely necessary to the effect and he was threatening not to go to the party at all. "Mary, unless I find my cuff links...we don't go to the party". Matthew and James were Barrie's forenames and David was his father's name.
6. As Mr. Darling was frantically searching the house trying to find the elusive cuff links the two boys of the family were shown re-enacting fights between Peter Pan and Captain Hook. What were the names of the two boys in the 1953 Walt Disney production of "Peter Pan"?

Answer: John and Michael

John and Michael were mock fighting jumping around the bed armed with toy swords and a goat hanger that acted as the captain's hook. John apparently was holding the hook in the wrong hand because he was told by Michael "Oh, no, John. It was the left hand".
7. The narrator in the 1953 animated film "Peter Pan" claims that Wendy was what kind of authority on Peter Pan?

8. In the 1953 animated film "Peter Pan" what was the dog Nana described as being?

Answer: Nursemaid

As Mr Darling was rushing about trying to find his cuff links, Nana was trying to prepare the nightly tonic for the boys. Apparently the boys were not too keen on that because they commended "Oh, Nana, must we always take that nasty tonic?" The narrator also mentioned that "Nana, the nursemaid, being a dog...
kept her opinions to herself..."
9. In the 1953 Disney Production of "Peter Pan" what did Mr Darling call the stories about Peter Pan?

Answer: Absolute poppycock

Mr Darling was of the opinion that Wendy was "stuffing the boys' heads with silly stories" and was so enraged that declared "young lady, this is your last night in the nursery". He also banished Nana from the nursery after having tripped on the dog.
10. In the 1953 animated film "Peter Pan" Wendy was absolutely sure that Peter Pan would return because he lost what in the house?

Answer: His shadow

As Mrs Darling was about to lock the window Wendy asked her not to because she had found something that belong to him. It was his shadow which, according to Wendy, was found by Nana.
