Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who lives at Rosings Park?

Answer: Lady Catherine de Bourgh and Miss Anne de Bourgh

Lady Catherine de Bourgh and her daughter live at Rosings Park. Lady Catherine is Mr. Darcy's aunt, and Anne, his cousin. Lady Catherine is wealthy and very conceited. A widow, she lives with her daughter, and is surrounded by her servants. To make their evenings less dull, the Boughs often invite company to dine, including Mr. and Mrs. Collins and Elizabeth when she visits. Lady Catherine takes great pleasure in listening to music, and asks Elizabeth to play the pianoforte for her, when she visits Rosings.

She declares she would've been a great musician, if she had learned to play, and that her daughter would've too, if she wasn't so sickly.
2. What is the first line spoken in the movie?

Answer: "Lydia? Kitty!"

At the beginning of the movie, as we first view the Longbourn estate,
Lydia and Kitty rush past Jane, in the Bennet's house, and Jane exclaims "Lydia? Kitty!" Jane is surprised at their sudden rush, and is also questioning the reason for it. Their rush is caused by them hearing their parents talking in the study about Mr. Bingley, and they run to the door of the study so they can hear more about the single man.

The line "Mary? Elizabeth!" is never spoken in the movie.
Mrs. Bennet exclaims "Mr. Bennet how can you tease me so?" shortly after, upon hearing that her husband has already waited on Mr. Bingley, without her noticing.
3. Who is Mr. Darcy played by?

Answer: Matthew Macfadyen

Matthew Macfadyen was born in October 17, 1974. A British actor, he is best known for his role in the BBC television series "Spooks", as M15 agent Tom Quinn.

Colin Firth played Mr. Darcy in the 1995 version of the film.
Donald Sutherland plays Mr. Bennet in the 2005 "Pride and Prejudice" movie.
Orlando Bloom - is a fantastic actor, but not is in this movie (unfortunately).
4. Did anyone else, aside from Mr. Darcy, want to marry Elizabeth?

Answer: Yes, Mr. Collins

The absurd and slightly pushy Mr. Collins is the first person to make Lizzy an offer of marriage. His original choice is Jane, but after he is advised that she is soon to be engaged, he chooses Lizzy for his future wife. Unfortunately for him, all does not go to plan and he suffers a harsh rejection. Mr. Collins then goes on to marry Charlotte, in order to fill his house in Kent. Collins is a comical character and as absurd, wacky, and just plain weird as he is, he too has a real love and pride for his profession, (he is a clergyman). He genuinely wants to help the Bennets out, by marrying Elizabeth.

Mr. Bingley never seems to have any romantic views for Lizzy, and though Lizzy at first seems to fancy Mr. Wickham, he never has any intention of marrying her.
5. When the Netherfield party enters the Meryton ball, how does the crowd react?

Answer: Everyone turns, stops dancing and watches them silently.

The crowd is too preoccupied with dancing to notice when the party first enters and just keep on dancing. Soon after they enter, the crowd turns around, whilst dancing, and sees the party. The crowd stops dancing and the music stops playing, everything is silent.

The crowd watches and waits for something, though nobody knows quite what. Nobody knows what to do, as they have never had such guests as these. Finally, Sir William Lucas steps forward to greet them, and the party walks to the other side of the hall.

The music then restarts and everyone starts dancing again.
6. Who says "We are all fools in love"?

Answer: Charlotte Lucas

Charlotte says this when speaking to Lizzy about Bingley's regard for Jane at the Netherfield ball. She advises that Jane should move fast and "snap him up" in order to secure herself an engagement. Her reason being that Bingley does not know her shy, modest character as well as Lizzy does and he may perceive her shyness as indifference. Charlotte reasons that if that is the case, then his love will surely be driven away.

Lizzy: "If he cannot perceive her regard he is a fool."
Charlotte: "We are all fools in love."
7. Who tells Lizzy of Mr. Darcy's part in the separation of Mr. Bingley and Jane Bennet?

Answer: Colonel Fitzwilliam

Colonel Fitzwilliam tells Lizzy this, trying to prove to her that Mr. Darcy is a most loyal companion. Unbeknownst to him, he is pushing him further downward in her opinion. He does not know that she is personally affected in the matter.
8. What is Mr. Wickham's reason for wishing to elope with Georgiana Darcy?

Answer: for money

Mr. Wickham wishes to elope with Georgiana to receive some financial security. There is no real regard for her, of course, and when he is told that he will not receive a penny of the thirty-thousand pounds she is to inherit, he disappears. Georgiana is devastated. Of course, this is told to Elizabeth through Mr. Darcy's letter, and the actual event is not seen in the movie, it is only heard of. What a dreadful affair!
9. What colour horse does Mr. Darcy ride?

Answer: black

We see Mr. Darcy on his black horse twice in the film, when he meets the girls and Mr. Whickam in Meryton, and after leaving Elizabeth the letter explaining his actions toward Jane, Bingley and Whickam.

We hear Mr. Bingley talking to Jane about his horse, at the Netherfield ball; "I have a beautiful gray."

Most of the regiment's horses are chestnuts, with exceptions of course.
10. Who was the first Bennet sister to be married, and to whom?

Answer: Lydia- to Mr. Wickham

Lydia elopes with Mr. Wickham, and after a long, hard search, they are found by Mr. Darcy. Mr. Darcy forces Wickham to marry Lydia at once. He pays for the wedding, Wickham's commission, his debts, just about everything. Later in the movie Mr. Darcy confesses that he did it all for Elizabeth. How sweet!

Charlotte is the first person to be married in the film, however she is not a Bennet. Mary is never married, or even made an offer; poor Mary.
