Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The movie followed a former orphan named Dastan. He was adopted by the King of Persia due to showing his character in which of these settings?

Answer: Market

Dastan was an orphan on the streets of Persia. The cause of his parents' death was never mentioned. He showed courage during a small fight in a market after being chased by the king's soldiers. Dastan had stood in the way of the king's escort. He threw an apple at one of the soldiers trying to drag away another boy, one of his friends. King Sharaman decided to adopt him into his family, making Dastan a prince.

The king already had two sons.
2. Fifteen years after Dastan was adopted, the Persians decided to attack the city of Alamut. Alamut was believed to be selling weapons to Persia's enemies. Dastan decided to disobey orders to attack at dawn, by attacking before dawn. He, along with other soldiers, captured what gate of the city?

Answer: Eastern gate

Dastan disobeyed orders to prevent casualties on both sides. Dastan, along with other soldiers, scaled the wall around Alamut using arrows fired just above him to form a ladder. Dastan and his soldiers fought hard, and captured the Eastern gate of the city. Dastan waved a torch to the much larger Persian war party in the distance from the Eastern gate, letting them know it had been captured. We know which gate it was, because one of the warriors in the war party mentioned it was Dastan at the Eastern gate. During the battle, Dastan killed a guard who possessed the Dagger of Time, Dastan kept it.
3. After Alamut was captured, the King of Persia died. Exactly how did he die?

Answer: Burned by a robe

While the Persians were celebrating their victory, Dastan gave King Sharaman a robe that had been poisoned, burning and killing the king. Prince Dastan was thought guilty of his father's murder and was forced to escape with the beautiful Princess of Alamut, Tamina.
4. Out in the desert, Tamina and Dastan met an entrepreneur and a group of men who were indebted to him, because he had saved one of the men's lives. What was one of the entrepreneur's activities?

Answer: Ostrich race organizer

The ostrich race organizer's name was Sheik Amar. He had a friend named Seso, who was part of a band of warriors who were masters at throwing knives. Amar had saved Seso's life once, so Seso was indebted to Amar. Amar threatened to have Seso kill Dastan, but Dastan struck a deal with Amar. Amar would get Tamina, who was nearby, as a slave at the ostrich races, so Dastan would live. We saw a scene at the ostrich races where Tamina was a slave and Dastan and Amar were watching her.
5. Tamina and Dastan returned to Alamut for King Sharaman's funeral. While there, Dastan talked to his uncle, by adoption, about who killed Sharaman. How did Dastan determine that Nizam, his uncle, killed Sharaman?

Answer: Nizam's hands were burned.

Nizam and Dastan talked about who killed Sharaman. Dastan said that he thought his brother Tus was responsible for Sharaman's death. Dastan claimed Tus knew about the dagger's power, which was turning back time, which would allow him to take the throne. Dastan then noticed the burns on Nizam's hands, and asked him how his hands were burned. Nizam said that they were burned because he was trying to take the robe off Sharaman while Sharaman was being burned. Dastan knew that Nizam did not try to take the robe off of Sharaman, making him responsible for the king's death.
6. Tamina and Dastan, accompanied by Seso and Amar, traveled to a temple to recover the Dagger of Time, which had been taken by Nazim. The dagger was guarded by a Hassassin, a group of warriors banished from Persia long ago, but kept alive by Nazim. Who killed the Hassassin guarding the dagger?

Answer: Seso

Seso traveled to the room where the dagger was kept, and, using a throwing knife, killed the Hassassin in the chest. Seso had already been wounded, and managed to toss the dagger out of the window to Dastan, far below.
7. While Amar decoyed the troops that were coming to the temple to kill Dastan he showed the dagger's power to his brother Tus, now king. How did he do that?

Answer: Killed himself

Before killing himself, Dastan explained the power of the Dagger of Time to Tus. By pressing the jewel on the holt of the dagger, the sands of time were released, and time was turned back a few seconds. This allowed the future to be changed. Only the person who pressed the jewel knew what happened. Dastan then stabbed himself with a sword.

Then Tus pressed the jewel and time was turned back to the moment before Dastan stabbed himself. Tus stopped Dastan from killing himself just as they encountered Nazim.
8. Underground in the Sandglass chamber, Nazim attempted to turn back time to the moment he saved King Sharaman's life when they were kids. Dastan stopped him and turned back time to what moment?

Answer: The moment he first held the dagger.

In the Sandglass chamber underground, Nazim attempted to break the Sandglass and allow him to travel back in time to the moment he saved King Sharaman's life when they were kids. Nazim would have not saved Sharaman's life, which would have Nazim as King of Persia and Dastan just another street boy. Tamina and Dastan traveled to where Nazim was and tried to stop him, but Nazim tried to push Tamina off the ledge they were standing on to her death in a bottomless pit. Dastan was already hanging off that ledge, so he grabbed Tamina as she fell with one hand. Tamina told Dastan to stop Nazim, and Tamina fell to her death after letting go.
9. After the incident in the Sandglass chamber, Dastan revealed Nazim's plot to his family in Alamut. Nazim tried to kill Dastan, but was not successful. Who killed Nazim?

Answer: Tus

At a gathering in Alamut, Dastan revealed Nazim's plot to his family. Nazim suggested that Dastan was being silly because he had fought too hard and needed to get out of the sun. After Dastan began to speak more, Nazim tried to kill Dastan, but Tus stepped in and killed Nazim.
10. After Nazim was killed, Tus proposed a marriage between Dastan and Tamina. Dastan then went and kneeled to Tamina, and gave her the Dagger of Time as a gift. How did she react?

Answer: She was surprised.

After the Dagger of Time had been returned to Tamina, who was actually the dagger's guardian, they walked together in a garden. Tamina said that she was surprised about Dastan's change in behavior, and he was acting as if he had discovered something. Dastan then said to Tamina that everyone is in control of their own destiny.
