This remake of the 1974 original was not very well received by the film critics. It was nominated for a "Razzie Award" for the worst remake or sequel but lost to "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle". An unknown actor named John Larroquette narrated the original in 1974 and reprised his role in this remake.

The movie is about a group of friends who are headed to see a concert, but are sidetracked when they pick up a hitchhiker who tells them that she has been kidnapped by a "bad man". They stop at the next town and try to report this to the police and are told to go to the sheriff's house.
