"Raising Arizona" directors Ethan and Joel Coen used the name Hudsucker Industries again for their 1994 movie "The Hudsucker Proxy".

The night H.I. and Ed kidnap Nathan Jr., Florence Arizona, mother of the Arizona Quints is reading "Dr. Spock's Baby and Child Care". When Florence goes to the nursery to check in on the Quints, she carries the book with her and leaves it behind. When H.I. kidnaps Nathan Jr., he takes the book too, calling it the "instructions".

The book continues on Nathan Jr.'s journey, including being splattered with blue paint when he is in the care of Gale and Evelle, and being scorched in the explosion that kills Leonard Smalls.

It is on Nathan Jr.'s first night with H.I. and Ed that H.I.'s friends Dale and Evelle break out of prison and show up at their home uninvited and unannounced. The household is awoken by at knock at the door, and as H.I. wakes up he says "Merry Christmas".

Nathan Arizona owns the furniture outlet, Unpainted Arizona. His slogan is "If you can find lower prices anywhere, my name ain't Nathan Arizona." During the kidnapping investigation, it is revealed that Nathan Arizona is in fact not his name, he was born Nathan Huffheins, but changed it for business reasons.

When the law enforcement in charge of the kidnapping investigation ask Nathan Arizona if there is a disgruntled employee at Unpainted Arizona who may have kidnapped Nathan Jr., he says all of his employees are disgruntled because he "ain't running no damn daisy farm." Nathan Arizona then shares his motto: "Do it my way or watch your butt."

After returning Nathan Jr. to his father, H.I. dreams of the future. In his dream, H.I. and Ed send Nathan Jr. a football for Christmas. Further on into the dream, Nathan Jr. is a college football star.

H.I. speaks of his dream in which he and Ed are an elderly couple being visited by their children and grandchildren. H.I. says "It seemed real, it seemed like us, and it seemed like, well, our home.
