Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The first scene of the movie showed Rudy and his brothers playing a game of football. Rudy's brothers gave him the distinction of what role?

Answer: All-Time Center

His brothers gave him this position due to the fact that he was so small. All he did was snap the ball. They did, however, let him play a different position once. Rudy's attempt to sack his older brother John failed.
2. At the seniors' last practice when Rudy was in high school, Rudy's coach allowed all the seniors to get one final hit on him. Rudy was the third senior to hit his coach.

Answer: True

Peter, his best friend, came in fourth. After his hit, Peter said "I can't believe it's over". This event gave Rudy faith that he could play football in college.
3. Rudy attempted to go to Notre Dame College. He found out his grades weren't good enough and he must first enter Holy Cross Junior College. What was the name of Rudy's tutor he met at Holy Cross?

Answer: D-Bob

D-Bob (played by Jon Favreau) was a big man who had troubles with women. He was a graduate student at Notre Dame, where he had a 3.8 GPA. Rudy offered advice on the ladies in exchange for tutoring.
4. What did Rudy do to the Notre Dame helmets before one of the games?

Answer: He painted the helmets.

Rudy was a part (for a day) of the Notre Dame Sports Booster Club. He painted the logo of Notre Dame on the helmets. This made Rudy feel like he did something for the team. He was later kicked off the Booster Club because he didn't have student ID.
5. When Rudy came home for Christmas, he found out that who was dating his ex-girlfriend?

Answer: John

John, his older brother, walked into the Ruettiger home to see Rudy staring at him. Frank arrogantly said, "Say Merry Christmas to your brother, Johnny boy". Rudy then left the house angry. His ex tried to apologize, but this just gave Rudy more of a reason to stay at Notre Dame. John was never the type to hurt Rudy, although he never really had faith in him anyways.

He, as a child, was the good looking one of the family and when he grew up, the wealthiest.
6. What was the name of Rudy's friend who died in the mill?

Answer: Peter

A fire broke out in the mill and Peter died trying to save everybody. After his funeral, Rudy left for Notre Dame, stating his death as the cause. The two were planning to travel to Notre Dame together.
7. Rudy's mother was the only one who never believed in Rudy.

Answer: False

Rudy's mother and Peter always believed in him. It was Rudy's jealous brother, Frank, who never liked Rudy. He was mad that he didn't have as much heart as Rudy, but more talent. The two never got along as children.
8. What nickname did D-Bob give Rudy in college?

Answer: Gipper

Some people believe this nickname may have came from Notre Dame football great George "The Gipper" Gipp, as D-Bob just began calling Rudy this when he told him about football. D-Bob finally left with his later-to-be wife after he was done tutoring Rudy. The two shared an emotional last moment together.
9. Coach finally allowed Rudy to play in the fourth quarter during a game against Georgia Tech. What was Rudy's only accomplishment in his career at Notre Dame that occurred with seven seconds remaining?

Answer: He sacked the opposing quarterback.

A chant began in the crowd--a "Rudy" chant. Coach didn't want to put the kid in, but decided to anyways. After the sack, Rudy was carried off the field. We saw his mother and father cheering in the stands. Even Frank, the jealous brother, was cheering.
10. Who directed the story of Daniel Eugene "Rudy" Ruettiger's life in 1993?

Answer: David Anspaugh

Anspaugh even admitted that he was inspired by the movie. David and Daniel met in real life, with Anspaugh performing an emotional interview. Anspaugh also did some directing on the hit show "Hill Street Blues" and the movie, "Hoosiers".
