With Ben's help, the children sing a chant around the fire, led by Colin, who begs the "great magic" to send his father home. That night, Lord Craven has a dream about his wife, prompting him to return.

Mary is afraid of how her uncle will react at seeing the garden open. On the contrary, he thanks her for what she has done. As Mary remarks at the end of the film. "The spell was broken. My uncle learned to laugh, and I learned to cry."
