1. Let's start off easy to get into the swing of things. What movie were the cons watching? It starred Rita Hayworth...

Answer: Gilda

Let's see. 'Gilda' came out in 1946. They did the roof in 1949, and the movie scene was probably within a year of the roof job. But Andy also implied that they'd been showing it in heavy rotation. Maybe it had just gotten into the prison and they were getting as much out of it as they could. The men certainly seemed content to be watching it.

2. Who is NOT shown in the movie theater watching the movie?

Answer: Bogs

After Andy left the theater he was pulled into the projector room by Bogs and the Sisters where they proceeded to beat him 'within an inch of his life'.

3. Where is Andy when the guys get him his rocks?

Answer: In the infirmary

Andy was in the infirmary from the beating he received from Bogs. The guys got him his rocks so that he could find them upon his return to his cell.

4. What is Andy doing when they come in to toss his cell?

Answer: Reading the Bible

He's calmly reading the Bible. Note however, that he's reading from the first few pages.

5. What color is the ribbon in Andy's Bible when we see it after cell toss?

Answer: Purple

This is seen clearly when the Warden hands it back to Andy after the cell toss, saying 'I'd hate to deprive you of this... Salvation lies within.'

There really wasn't much else in there - some other magazines and some Louis L'Amour books.

At a letter a week, that's more than 300 letters. When he got the $200 and books and sundry, he resolved to write two a week from then on.

He said this and then headed into the Warden's bathroom.

16. Does Andy lock the doors before or after he starts playing the music?

Answer: After

He plays the music, locks the doors, then puts the music on the loudspeaker system. I never understood why the guy in the bathroom couldn't unlock the door. I mean, Andy used a key to lock it from the outside, but I've never heard of a bathroom door that locks from the outside with a key and can't be unlocked manually from the inside.

Then a better informed player let me know that doors used to lock only with a key, but from either side. If a door was locked and the key was left in the hole, it could not be unlocked from the other side. (Thanks, TonyTheDad!)
