This speech is possibly the most moving part of the entire film. Matthew is the one who gives the speech, because he was Gareth's best friend and partner. However, David, Tom, and Charles were all at the funeral as well, since they too were very close to Gareth.

It is extremely surprising to find out that Charles is about to marry his least favorite of all his ex-girlfriends. However, in the end, he doesn't go through with it, because he finds out that Carrie is divorced, and he is still in love with her.
