You could see this at the beginning after it showed the murders. It went to the Lutz house and it said "Deer Park, Long Island.... One Year Later!" The Lutz family were looking for a larger house and they just happened to find one that was fairly cheap in Amytiville.

He heard voices and tried to listen. As he climbed up to the vent the flies started pouring out. He fled the house in fear. A similar scene happened in the original movie, however in the older movie, the priest had a larger role.

This was at the beginning of the movie in the kitchen scene at the old house. Billy was complaining about the eggs George had made and saying that he didn't need a lift to school. This was also where Kathy told the kids that they were going house-hunting.
