He was called Jack "The Devil" Murdock, this is what Matt Murdock later took his own alter-ego's name from. Jack was killed outside of the Olympic on orders from a man he had once worked for named Fallon because he was supposed to have thrown the fight. Near the end of the movie Matt returns to the Olympic and throws a rose onto the spot where his father had died.

Enraged that Quesada is not being truthful and is in fact acting like a victim himself, Matt says to him: "Mr. Quesada, for your sake, I hope justice is found here today, before justice finds you." Later Daredevil finds the man and exacts a bit of "justice" of his own.

She mentions during the course of the message that she did not want to do this over the phone but that she has no choice since Matt is never there.

Wilson Fisk was a very affluent man in the community. Matt's partner, Franklin, upon meeting Fisk at the Grand Hotel, makes an offer to work for him, but Matt refuses. He says in front of Mr. Fisk, "We only work for the innocent."

In the scene in the bar where Bullseye is insulted by a man he has just beaten at darts, he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a paperclip. The crowd breathes a sigh of relief that it is not a weapon and then Bullseye proceeds to perforate the man's neck with paperclips.
He later uses a peanut on the old woman on the plane. (She chokes on it.)

Kevin Smith plays a forensic assistant who notices that the weapon used to kill Mr. Natchios extends out into a blind man's cane. His name is mentioned by the reporter, Urich, who comes to see what it is that Kirby has discovered. (For a price of course.)

At the end of the movie Urich composes an entire article exposing Matt Murdock as Daredevil and then decides to delete the whole thing.
