An atomic bomber crashes in the Artic waking up the sleeping giant. Originally Gamera is bad but in later movies turns good and becomes the "friend of children".
3. Is the origin of Gamera the same in both the Heisei and Showa series?

Answer: No

Like in the "Godzilla" Showa and Heisei series, the "Gamera" Heisei and Showa series are different. In the Heisei series, Gamera was made by the ancient people of Atlantis to be their protector and the protector of Earth. The Showa series was more child oriented, where as the Heisei is more of an adult trilogy.

This is not the "friend of children" you are used to, Gamera protects the Earth but at the cost of human lives if necessary. This amazing trilogy of the 1990's used incredible special effects and is considered better than most Heisei "Godzilla" movies.
4. What monster from the Showa series is also on the Heisei Gamera trilogy?

Answer: Gyaos

The Gyaos are bat/fox like monsters that actually eat people. Gyaos is considered by fans to be Gamera's number one foe. The Gyaos appear on the Heisei Series in two of the three movies. They appear on "Gamera the Guardian of the Universe" and "Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris".
5. What stone did the evil kaiju Barugon hatch out of?

Answer: opal

7. On the original movie "Gamera the Invicible", what planet did they try to send Gamera to?

Answer: Mars

Originally Gamera is a threat to Tokyo and the scientists decide that the only way to get rid of Gamera forever is to somehow lock him in a rocket and shoot him to Mars. They find out that Gamera loves fire, he eats fire. They lure Gamera in with fire and he is sent to Mars, or so they think...
8. How did Gamera escape from his prison heading towards a planet?

Answer: A meteor hit the rocket.

Half way to Mars, a meteor hits the rocket carrying Gamera and he is set free, the first thing he does when he escapes is return home, to Earth.
9. Is there any reference to Gamera on any "Godzilla" movie?

Answer: Yes

Yes there is. In the movie "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah" the dinosaur in the past that would eventually become Godzilla has Gamera's voice. When he is attacked by the Navy ships, Gamera's voice is used for the dinosaur's screams.
10. What body part did Gamera lose at the end of one the Heisei movies?

Answer: his arm

At the end of the movie "Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris", Iris has Gamera's hand pinned down and the only way Gamera was able to break free is by using his fire balls to cut his own arm free. I hope you enjoyed this quiz on Gamera, the coolest kaiju besides Godzilla. I will return again to make more quizzes on this cool kaiju. Till then...
