"Searching for Bobby Fischer" is a 1993 drama that explores the world of chess through the eyes of child prodigy Joshua Waitzkin. The film is directed by Steve Zaillian and stars Ben Kingsley, Max Pomeranc, Joe Mantegna, Joan Allen, and Laurence Fishburne.

In the film, young Josh Waitzkin is discovered to be a prodigy chess player. His family hires Bruce Pandolfini who is very strict and attempts to train Josh in the model of Bobby Fischer. In 1969, Alan Parrish is trapped within the game. Twenty-six years later, Judy and Peter find the game and unwittingly release the now adult Alan and chaos in the form of rhinos, elephants, monkeys, and other animals. The children must finish the game in order to restore everything back to normal.
