Young Indy, played by River Phoenix, tries to make sure a piece of treasure finds its way into a museum, rather than into the hands of a collector. His efforts earn him the scar on his chin, his fear of snakes, and his battered hat. The adult Indy must rescue his father (played wonderfully by Sean Connery) who has been captured by the Nazis because of his knowledge of the Holy Grail. "Contact" is based on Carl Sagan's book, and also starred Matthew McConaughey, Tom Skerritt and David Morse.

Rose is travelling on the "Titanic" with her wealthy fiance, Cal (Billy Zane). She is not happy with her intended, and is only marrying him to please her mother, who is travelling with them. Rose meets and falls in love with Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio), choosing to stay with him rather than go in a lifeboat when the ship begins sinking.

The elderly Rose gets in contact with Brock Lovett (Bill Paxton) after his salvage expedition finds the sketch Jack made of Rose wearing the "Heart of the Ocean" necklace. Stuart and Winslet earned Oscar nominations for Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress, respectively.

In 1969, while playing a mysterious board game with his friend, Sarah (Laura Bell Bundy), young Alan Parrish (Adam Hann-Byrd) disappears. Twenty-six years later, two kids named Judy and Peter find the game and begin to play. Alan reappears (now Robin Williams) and realizes that the kids are playing the game he and Sarah started in 1969. Alan finds Sarah (now Bonnie Hunt) and they complete the game with the kids, changing their lives. Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce play Judy and Peter in "Jumanji" (1995).

Fanning plays young Melanie, and Witherspoon plays the adult Melanie, in "Sweet Home Alabama". Melanie Smooter left her small town in Alabama, and now lives in New York as Melanie Carmichael, an up-and-coming fashion designer. The fact that Melanie and her childhood sweetheart, Jake, were never officially divorced becomes important to Melanie when her current boyfriend, Andrew, proposes. Josh Lucas and Patrick Dempsey star as Jake and Andrew.

In the first "Star Wars" movie, young Luke (Mark Hamill) seeks out Ben Obi-Wan Kenobi after discovering a message for him in a droid purchased by his uncle. Ben and Luke escape from Tatooine with the help of new friend Han Solo, and rescue Princess Leia from the Empire.

Although Obi-Wan is killed by Darth Vadar, he continues to guide Luke through the force. Guinness reprised the role in Episodes V and VI, although in spirit form only.

Allie and Noah's love story is told in "The Notebook". Allie and Noah (played by Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling) meet when her family vacations in North Carolina. They fall in love, but her parents feel Noah isn't right for Allie, and take her back home. Letters which Noah sends to Allie are intercepted by her mother, so she moves on and eventually becomes engaged to a young man her parents like. Noah and Allie later see each other again, and Allie chooses to end her engagement and be with Noah.

As an older person, Allie is suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Duke (Noah) faithfully reads their love story to her every day in the hopes that she will remember him, if only for a few moments. The movie also starred Joan Allen and Sam Shepard. Director Nick Cassavetes is the son of Gena Rowlands.

Walter's flighty mother leaves him in the care of his two eccentric great-uncles for the summer. The two men, Hub and Garth (Robert Duvall and Michael Caine), are said to possess a fortune, which they learn to enjoy with the help of Walter. Walter grows up to be a cartoonist, and inherits Hub and Garth's money after they die in a plane crash. Kyra Sedgwick played Walter's mother, Mae, in "Secondhand Lions" (2003).

"Forrest Gump" (1994) is the story of a slow, but kind, young man who manages to succeed in whatever he does in life, mostly because he listens to his mama's words of wisdom. After becoming successful, the only thing missing from Forrest's life is his childhood sweetheart, Jenny. Jenny was played by Robin Wright Penn (credited as Robin Wright) as an adult, and by Hanna R. Hall as a child.
