Van Wilder is a college student at Coolidge College. The movie takes place here where Van is starting his seventh year. He is doing everything he can to stay in college for fear of graduating and facing the real world.

Gwen Pearson, who is played by Tara Reid, is a student at Coolidge. She is a reporter for the school newspaper and is assigned by her chief editor to go out and get a story on the very popular Van Wilder - a story which no other reporter in the past has been able to get.

Gwen's boyfriend Richard also attends Coolidge College. Richard grew up in a very high class wealthy family and he is currently pursuing a doctoral degree, as well as being the president of both the student government and his fraternity named Delta Iota Kappa. Richard is a snobby jealous boyfriend who especially hates Van because Gwen is spending so much time with him to get her story.

Since Van Wilder is so popular and doesn't have time to keep up with his duties on campus, he sets up interviews with hundreds of students who want to apply to be his assistant. Taj is an exchange student from India who interviews for the assistant job.

He impresses Van and his roomate so much that Van takes him in to handle his school work, to answer all of his cell phones and coordinate parties for Van to attend. All this is in exchange for Van to helping him socially around campus.

At the end of the movie, Gwen finally gets a complete story about Van Wilder in the newspaper for all the students. Gwen also sends a copy of the article to Van's father to read about how great his son is, how much he has accomplished and why he is the "King of Coolidge". Right before Gwen sends out the envelope, it shows her looking at it and the address is Greenwich, CT.

Van is hosting one last party at the end of the school year and almost everyone on campus is going to be there. Van's roomate Hutch is ID-ing people at the door to make sure no underage drinking is going on. A friend of Richard's from a sorority, sidetracks Hutch (Van's roomate) and lets a bus full of extremely underage kids into the party. Richard then calls the campus police to notify them of the underage drinking.

They come in and take Van away to a hearing to determine if Van is going to get expelled or not. Van ends up winning the case and graduates that year.

Answer: Chickadees

Van and Taj go to see a Coolidge Chickadees' home basketball game in which they are losing horribly by halftime. Van, who believes he can motivate the team to win, goes into the locker room to have a talk with the team. As Van walks in you see a logo on the wall with Coolidge Chickadees written around it. Of course Van pumps up the team at halftime by telling them that if they don't win he isn't going to throw a party for them. Consequently the sorority from the neighboring college won't be there either. That is enough to motivate them and they end up destroying the other team in the second half.

Answer: Colossus

Colossus is a companion of Van's throughout the movie. He lives in the dorm room with Van. Van brings him all over campus in his golf cart as well as using him in a horrible prank to get back at Richard and his fraternity.

One of the promises of Van to Taj isthat he will help him get dates around campus. Van sets Taj up with a very attractive girl named Naomi who is skating around the rink. When the day comes for Taj to go on his date with Naomi he is very nervous. Van reassures him though by telling him the only three things you need for a successful date are scented candles, massage oil, and Barry White.

When Van first meets Gwen, she shows up at his dorm room and she introduces herself as a reporter for the newspaper. Van who is known as someone who never interviews for anything, especially the newspaper, makes it very difficult for Gwen and avoids answering any of her questions.

He responds by asking questions of his own about her personal life. Gwen seeing that this is getting her nowhere, leaves and decides to try again at a party he is hosting. Again Van keeps playing around with her, trying to persuade her to forget about being a reporter for one night and to kick back and have some fun.

She doesn't want any part of that, until she overhears that some students paid Van to host this party for them. Gwen takes this info and exploits Van in her first article that is titled, Van Wilder "Party Liason".
