Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Parker Posey
Answer: Scream 3
Parker Posey plays Jennifer Jolie (who plays Gale Weathers, played by Courteney Cox Arquette) in "Scream 3's" meta film. When the Woodsboro survivors head to Los Angeles in the movie, they get mixed up with the cast meant to play themselves, and Posey's Jolie is amongst them.
She ultimately proves as plucky as Gale, but she ends up dying in the film's final act when she makes her way in the hidden rooms of Roman's house and gets killed behind the one-way mirrors in his bedroom.
2. Jada Pinkett
Answer: Scream 2
Playing Maureen Evans, Jada Pinkett only appears in the cold open of "Scream II" (alongside Omar Epps). Heading to the theatre to watch a screening of 'Stab', based on the Woodsboro murders, her boyfriend is killed in the washrooms and Ghostface takes a seat beside her in the audience before stabbing her repeatedly.
The unwitting audience doesn't even notice - they're cheering for the action in the movie - until she crawls to the front of the movie theatre to die.
3. Rose McGowan
Answer: Scream
Playing Tatum, Sidney's best friend in the original "Scream", Rose McGowan was attacked by Ghostface when she went out to the garage in the middle of a house party at the Macher place. Locked in, she made an attempt to leave out the garage door, but the escape proved futile.
She tried to escape out the cat door but the garage door, continuing to open, crushed her while she was stuck inside. Tatum's death scene is one that's frequently referenced from the film. It was actually remade to comedic effect in "Scary Movie", albeit with a throwaway character.
4. Jenny McCarthy
Answer: Scream 3
Jenny McCarthy is one of the actresses playing a role in the newest 'Stab' movie and her death actually comes before the bloodbath at the end. While venturing into the prop building of the production lot, she ends up ambushed by Ghostface while she's on her cell phone. Though she tries to fight back with the weapons around her, she realizes that, go figure, they're all fake props.
5. Hayden Panettiere
Answer: Scream 4
Playing fan favourite Kirby Reed, Hayden Panettiere is one of the new wave of teens who appear in "Scream 4" to live through another generation of Woodsboro murders. Her character is very much a mirror of Jamie Kennedy's Randy Meeks from the original film as it's her knowledge of horror cinema that gets recalled throughout the fourth movie.
She ends up going outside the Roberts household near the end of the film in an effort to save Charlie, but he's revealed to be one of the killers.
6. Marley Shelton
Answer: Scream 4
Playing the role of Judy Hicks in "Scream 4", Shelton was actually one of the survivors of this post-modern take on the series. One of Woodsboro's deputy sheriffs (under Dewey), she managed to evade the killer and, in the end, help subdue the actual killer.
She's shot in the chest only to be revealed to have a bulletproof vest under her uniform, much like several victims in previous movies in the franchise.
7. Sarah Michelle Gellar
Answer: Scream 2
She may have showed up in "I Know What You Did Last Summer", but it didn't prepare the vampire slayer for another killer in "Scream 2". In this movie, Gellar plays a sorority sister of Windsor College, where the film takes place, and she's killed by Ghostface when she's alone in her sorority house as one of the earlier victims in the film.
She died in "I Know What You Did Last Summer" as well. Just can't catch a break, eh?
8. Laurie Metcalf
Answer: Scream 2
Laurie Metcalf, originally known for her role on "Roseanne", appears as a reporter in "Scream 2" by the name of Debbie Salt. Clearly the new version of Gale (formerly a reporter as well), she appears to be covering the new spate of murders but is ultimately revealed to be one of the killers.
Her true identity is revealed to be Mrs. Loomis, the mother of one of the original killers (Billy, played by Skeet Ulrich in the first "Scream") out for revenge. She's killed by Cotton Weary in the end.
9. Emma Roberts
Answer: Scream 4
Emma Roberts plays Jill Roberts, Sidney's cousin, in "Scream 4" and she appears to be one of the victims and a focus of the Ghostface killer in this new wave of killings. The truth is that she, along with Charlie, has been committing the murders in an attempt to gain fame and notoriety as the sole survivor of the new generation of Woodsboro murders all this time.
She nearly succeeds until Sidney, who survives the attack against her, becomes an issue. Jill tries to kill her in the hospital, but Sid, Dewey, Gale, and Judy manage to fight back in time.
She's killed with a defibrillator.
10. Drew Barrymore
Answer: Scream
Drew Barrymore is the first cast member to appear in any of the "Scream" movies, showing up in the cold open of the very first "Scream" as Casey Becker. Her inclusion was meant to be shocking to viewers; as a well-established actress before "Scream" and due to her featuring on much of the promotional content for the film (posters, trailers, etc.) she was meant to throw people off the trail.
Her death at the start of the movie sets the tone for the rest. This was not meant to be the typical slasher of yesteryear. That meta approach persisted through each sequel (and the TV show).
