Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'That's why you're famous. That's why everybody knows your name. You're the boy who lived.'

Answer: Rubeus Hagrid

After Hagrid took Harry shopping at Diagon Alley, Harry wanted to know why everyone knew his name. Hagrid told him about how Lord Voldemort had killed Harry's parents and then mysteriously disappeared after trying to kill Harry.
2. 'It's the same every year, packed with muggles of course.'

Answer: Molly Weasley

Molly Weasley says this as she's hustling her crew through the train station to get to the Hogwarts' Express. Harry overheard her so felt comfortable asking her how to get to Platform 9 3/4. Hogwarts, as we know, begins accepting students at the age of 11. I've often wondered how they get their schooling before that.
3. 'You've got dirt on your nose by the way. Did you know?'

Answer: Hermione Granger

Hermione says this to Ron as a parting remark after the first time that they met on the Hogwarts' Express. This is after she criticized Ron's attempt to turn Scabbers yellow and repaired Harry's glasses, leaving not a very good first impression on Ron.
4. 'Red hair and a hand-me-down robe... you must be a Weasley.'

Answer: Draco Malfoy

After Malfoy introduced himself to Harry, Ron made a sound very much like a snort. Assuming that Ron was laughing at his name (which he may very well have done), Malfoy responded with his own insult. In the movie this is the first time that Harry and Malfoy meet, although in the book they met first when being fitted for robes.
5. 'But everyone knows it's the Dark Arts he fancies. He's been after Quirrell's job for years.'

Answer: Percy Weasley

During the Sorting Feast Harry noticed Snape glaring at him and associated this with the sudden pain in his scar, so he asked Percy about him. However while Snape is glaring at Harry, Professor Quirrel's face is turned away from Harry, exposing Harry to the back of his turban where we later find that Voldemort was residing.
6. 'Have you heard? Harry Potter's the new Seeker for Gryffindor. I always knew he'd do well.'

Answer: Nearly Headless Nick

Nearly Headless Nick shared this news with the lady ghost on his arm as they floated by.
7. 'Stop, stop, stop, stop! You're going to take someone's eye out.'

Answer: Hermione Granger

Ron and Hermione were partnered in Charms class while they were trying to make a feather levitate. Ron approached the task with more enthusiasm than finesse and Hermione didn't hesitate to tell him so.
8. 'It shows nothing more or less than the deepest and most desperate desires of our hearts.'

Answer: Professor Dumbledore

Finding Harry gazing into the Mirror of Erised again, Dumbledore explained to Harry what it showed, and how dangerous it could be. In the book Harry asked Dumbledore what he saw when he looked into the mirror and Dumbledore answered that he saw himself holding a pair of woolen socks.
9. 'Sorry, don't mean to be rude, but I'm in no fit state to entertain today.'

Answer: Hagrid

Harry, Hermione and Ron wanted to talk to Hagrid about the Philosopher's Stone, but he was too immersed in his dragon egg which was about to hatch. When they told him that they knew about the Stone he let them in, so they were there when Norbert, the dragon, hatched.
10. 'God, I miss the screaming.'

Answer: Argus Filch

Filch was escorting Ron, Hermione, Harry and Malfoy to detention with Hagrid, and along the way he reminisced about the old detentions, when students were hung by chains in the dungeons.
11. 'You're a little bit scary sometimes you know, brilliant but scary.'

Answer: Ron Weasley

Ron said this to Hermione after she paralyzed Neville when he tried to stop them from going out at night. Neville didn't realize the importance of what they were doing, and believed that they were going to get Gryffindor in trouble again.
12. 'Doesn't it seem a bit quiet to you?'

Answer: Harry Potter

They found Fluffy snoring while a harp was playing magically, eliminating the first obstacle in the quest to reach the Stone, but alerting them that someone had gone ahead of them. Unfortunately they lingered too long making plans and the harp stopped playing, waking Fluffy up.
13. 'You don't suppose this is going to be like real Wizard's Chess, do you?'

Answer: Hermione Granger

Hermione had previously called Wizard's Chess 'totally barbaric' when she saw Ron and Harry playing it.
14. 'Books and cleverness, there are more important things, like friendship and bravery.'

Answer: Hermione Granger

Hermione spoke these words of encouragement to Harry as he left her to look after Ron, while he went after the Stone on his own. This remark showed how much Hermione had grown from the smug know-it-all she'd been at the beginning of the movie.
15. Here's a harder quote to finish with. 'I have strength enough for this.'

Answer: Lord Voldemort

When Quirrell was unable to solve the riddle of the Mirror of Erised Voldemort urged him to 'use the boy'. However Harry refused to give Quirrell what he wants so Voldemort demanded that he be allowed to deal with Harry. Quirrell protested that Voldemort was not strong enough but Voldemort got his way and Quirrell removed his turban.
